This route will take you along the wider, more popular walking path called the Reservoir Trail around the bulk of reservoirs on the west side of I-93. This path keeps you closer to the water bodies than the other paths in the reservation and the path is preferred by the casual walker who just wants some away time from the city in the woods.

This is a great trail for running as it varies in difficulty as you go. There are some flat, easy spots but there are also some areas with rocks and roots that you have to dodge as you run up and downhill. Highly recommended!

pretty nice hike, paths aren't fully marked and lots of unleashed dogs.

Decent walk around the reservoir. It was a bit more challenging than I expected it to be. The trails were a bit hard to find at times but course correction wasn't difficult to get back on track. Parking is limited so get there early.

We locked our bikes up near Gate 12, and started the hike from the south. Some parts of the trail are well marked with orange/red markers, other parts were a little harder to follow. The trail had some moderate parts that had some inclines and rocks, but it was overall easy-moderate. Surprisingly, the trail doesn't hug super close to the reservoirs, so you don't have water views most of the time. It was very nice though; it took us 2.75 hours at a regular pace.

A pleasant hike/walk. Well paved trail. We walked during most of the trail. There are frequent ups and downs. An easy hike. Pack a book, you'll find plenty of scenic sports to stop, picnic, relax and read a book.
