Nice trail, well marked, lots of rock scrambles, coming down was a pain... still a nice hike. 98 percent of the trail is shaded, which was a life saver on a sweltering day

A great intermediate trail. There are a few steeper parts but the overall ascent is manageable. We had zero bugs and lots of great views at the top. Took us 1 hr 45 total mostly because there were a few groups of kids and families and they took a while getting through the tough spots. Will definitely be returning!

The trail has 3 steepish parts with flats in between. It brings you to the steep part of Old Indian trail as a last push to the summit. Overall, a great trail!

This is a very pretty, but difficult trail in spite of the moderate rating. I am older, but saw several younger, more fit people needing to use lots of effort on this one.

This was a really fun and scenic trail. Very rocky overall and especially at the summit. Definitely the hardest “moderate” trail I’ve done.

Hiked 6/8/2020: 1st time hiking Wachusett Mountain, so happy we chose this trail. Very fun with all the rock scrambles. Some parts are steep, but levels out as soon as you get through them which gives your legs and lungs a nice break. Weather was perfect, no bugs, not too crowded, great views. Dog was in heaven. Recommend if you’re looking for a bit of a workout and a fun trail.

Great hike with good parking at trailhead. Extra lot a quarter mile down the road if main lot is full. Going up West Side Trail to the summit, you will need to climb some rocky sections. These portions are relatively short and are generally followed by flat ground. We took the Semuhenna Trail back down which seemed like it might have been less strenuous to go up, albeit a little longer.

The ascent was glorious and cool under the canopy, and I didn't encounter a soul until I go to the Link. I climbed Mountain Lodge and there were quite a few people when I got to the top. The tower was closed, but there were some good views all the same. Descending MST was hard on my knees, but not unmanagable.

This trail was more heavily trafficked than moderate would suggest, especially the trail up to the summit.

Great trail. Lots of more difficult climbs in very wet conditions made slow going. Running water over steep descent so I walked part of the Summit Road on the way down rather than risk slip and injury. Beautiful day. Could see Boston and Mt. Washington (as a tiny white spot) on the distant horizon. A nice gentleman who hikes there frequently pointed out Mt. Washington. The road down was a nice this early in the year. I will be back with my kids to hike this again.
