Note: When parking area is full, please try other Wilbraham trails in order to prevent overcrowding on the trail. The Tom Leary Trail is one of several trails in the Rice Nature Preserve in Wilbraham. It is named in honor of Tom Leary and the work he did to establish the Rice Nature Preserve. The map you see here actually has several of the other trails in the preserve included in it in addition to the trail named after Tom. As most of the reviewers have noted, this trail leads to a spectacular view of Wilbraham, the Pioneer Valley, and the Holyoke range. In 2018, The Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee added a boardwalk to the beginning of the trail to ease any trouble with muddy areas near the trailhead. For more details about these trails, please refer to the Town of Wilbraham's Rice Nature Preserve webpage at https://www.wilbraham-ma.gov/index.aspx?NID=298

Lots of braided social paths if you choose to go off the main path. The hiking is never very difficult but is quite enjoyable. Nice expansive views to be had.

Great day to be out for walk. Sunny and cool. Amazing views of the mountains in the distance. Not too strenuous, though a few short climbs. Not too long. Not too many people.

Nice trail with a few moderate elevations. Some significant muddy areas in the spring. Took the sunrise peak at the end, wasn't disappointed. Some very nice views throughout.

Nice trail, good for a moderate workout with some ups and downs. Not very well marked at all, took a wrong turn but managed to get back on track. Went up the white trail to sunset peak (pretty but nothing special) and then down the blue.

Nice leisurely trail with some mild elevation gain and a few great lookout points. Nice hike if you have a few hours. During fall with all the leaves it’s a little slippery, so consider better suited footwear than running shoes like me. A few points that were confusing and led to trails not on the map, but with some backtracking and using the tracker on this app we were able to figure it out.

I would recommend this trail to anyone. A number of choices and none of them bad. There’s an inscription on the bench at the top of Rattlesnake Peak. You can read it for yourself when you get there.
