Douglas State park itself is amazing and should be visited. This route is dangerous and dumb though. Half of it is spent on a main road that shouldn’t be travelled on food as cars travel at high speeds. There are points spent on a main thoroughfare through the forest that could be on way more enjoyable trails deeper in the woods. Honestly— this particular route should be removed from the app. But go elsewhere here!

Cool trail. There’s lots of old stone walls and foundations of buildings. Lots of rocks on the trail but no scrambling.

Easy on-street parking. Well marked and maintained, gated enterance. Access path to SNETT rail trail and clear markings from there. Basic rail trail but the beauty of this State forest area is all the side trail combinations to create different loops. You can run it, walk it or bike it. Just keep an eye out for mountain-sized horse poops.

So I parked my car and walked down SW Main Street to where I was supposed to enter the woods only to find that if there is a path there, it is completely obstructed by old brush and trash. I couldn't get around it, so I backtracked to where I was parked and entered the woods there. Then did a side trail back around to the trunk trail. Nice walk, but there were several trees down in the side trail. Wound up going only 3 miles. It was a nice hike overall, but I will plan a different loop next time.

Watch out for quads and dirt bikes on that long straightaway. Also, right after the straightaway was an old bridge that was washed out. Be careful crossing the river. It was running pretty good today. Otherwise a nice hike.

Varied leisurely hike, from a flat trunktrail , to grassy lanes, onto woodland trails with short mileage on a country road. Saw no wildlife, but did enjoy scenic brooks, shallow ponds, all in a peaceful setting.
