This was a great hike with a mix of things to see. We lucked out on the weather with 60 degree temperatures in January. We used the Race Falls Campsite as a base-camp for the local mountains, hiking one each day. The hike to Mt. Race gave the best view of the surrounding area and was relatively easy. We also got to see the sun set. The hike to Mt. Everette was thrilling and more exhaustive compared to Mt. Race. There wasn't much to see since it was cloudy but the top gave a nice "Winter Wonderland" vibe, for this time of year. The river and falls in the area were amazing and definitely worth a hike to see. Overall a great experience.

This was a great hike. The trail mostly follows a river up the mountain and crosses a few time. The upper falls were beautiful, and the water tasted amazing if you're bold enough to drink it. Not too buggy, although the trail is rocky in places and the wet rocks were quite slippery. We took a left at the Appalachian trail up to the ridge trail of mount Race. There are a few areas where you have to climb up steep rocks, which made hiking back a bit difficult as conditions were wet and slippery. It was worth it though, because the views from the top of the ridge were beautiful. Overall a fairly difficult hike and beautiful scenery and views.

Enjoyed this hike. It's along the brook, criss-crossing a few times, at the beginning. The falls are spectacular. Not overly hard, but some pretty steep spots. We chose to take a left at the Appalation Trail to Mt. Race for the view rather than right to Mt. Everett because we read there is not much of a view, but a more challenging hike. Would like to do this one again. It was cold and windy at the top of Mt Race, with no real "lookout" point, but some pretty nice views nonetheless. We did lose the trail at the bottom on the way back and had to backtrack a little, but overall it was well marked.
