Great trail and nice fishing with kids. There is a beach for you to relax at and from the top of your climbs you will have great views over the lakes and to the skyscrapers of Boston in the distance. There are a lot of trails that criss-cross the area so use the track in this guide carefully to find your way but don't worry as there is always a paved road within about a quarter mile of you if you ever do get off track and there are plenty of signs, trail markers and even rangers to guide you.

Nice, well marked trail with nice lake views along the Ridgeline Trail. Good rock bounding moments too.

Beautiful hike and lake that you can swim in it during summer.

The swamp at 0.9 mi on this trail was probably an outdated section. They changed the trail, so follow the marking on trees instead of the trail on this map, otherwise you might end up crossing the swamp and get all wet, just like me!

(Or maybe it was because it was raining heavily…)

Ridge trail is a great hike. A lot of uphill climbing and full of challenges.

I hiked the Fox Run Trail and Breakhill Trail. There are many different trails. I suggest getting a map in the visitor's center first; it really gives a great overview of the park. Make sure your legs are ready to climb!

Great hike! I would’ve never thought I’d find a quality hike this close to Boston. Ridge Trail is the way to go — especially up to Castle Rock.

Overall good trails. We did not do exactly the marked trail and that is b/c it is difficult to follow the trails here as they are not very well marked. Despite that, the trails are well maintained, cross the paved main trail often and make for enjoyable hiking/walking. The main trail is heavily trafficked but the unpaved side trails are more secluded. There are great stretches for off leash time for the pup and great swimming for him as well. Definitely worth coming here again.

I tried a new trail today -Fox run trail -A very pleasant trail that goes up a small
hill and then ends up at a pond. The beauty of Breakheart is that most of the hikers stay on the paved road and very few hikers use the unpaved trails. A very nice spot

This is a great spot .This is 3rd visit. Break heart Hill is an easy climb and you can see great views of Boston. The Saugus River trail is off the beaten path but great little stroll along the river. Plenty of easy paved trails for kids and seniors .

hike and bike options throughout this park. Caught Smallmouth and largemouth bass, and sunfish using lures in the afternoon on Silver Lake.

A nice walk in partial nature, unfortunately a lot of the trails in here are paved over. But when you walk around the lake and get away from the asphalt, it is a very beautiful sight.

Great trails, but not a lot of signs so a little easy to get turned around. Low traffic though, very pretty and surprisingly mostly secluded. Not too difficult but not super easy either. Overall good hike for a few hours with some cool climbs and views

Wonderful place to hike! There are so many trails that crisscross all over the reservation--it can be an easy jaunt or a more challenging climb to the top of Hill. The dogs love jumping into the lake, and just last week we saw a deer running ahead of us on the trail. Trails are well marked -- we walk through here in all seasons and for the last 3 years we've done a morning Christmas walk (surprisingly there were quite a few people!).

Absolutely love this place! I run these trails weekly. Highly recommend Taking the Ridgeline Trail to Castle Rock and work your way over to the blue blazed Lake trail and on up to Eagle Rock. Amazing views of Boston skyline, Wakefield, Melrose, Saugus, Lynnfield and reservation.

Good beginner spot.

As another poster mentioned, the main "trail" is paved. However, they do have unpaved trails that branch off of the paved loop as well.

The Ridge trail is excellent as it offers some uphill hiking (very easy level) and rewards with views of the Boston skyline. Plus, as it branches off from the paved loop and then later rejoins it, there are signs that will get you onto the right trail if you go without a map.

Three out of five stars for being a solid place for walking and hiking for beginners.

NOTE: I have no personal experience with this, but have been told multiple times to stay out at night as it could be dangerous. I have no evidence of this claim, but would recommend generally avoiding hiking at night anyways. Also, as you'll be able to tell by the fire pits, crushed beer cans, and broken bottles in some of the clearings on some of the trails, this is a popular place for Wakefield high schoolers to hang out and drink at night. I'd wish they'd clean up after, but I know I probably wouldn't have at their age.

Great pet and family friendly park. Because the park is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, I found the peace and quiet hard to come by. However, I found being off the paved path to be the most enjoyable. If you want low traffic and quiet, hike the blue blaze along the edge of the lake as well as ridge trail. The one thing I did not like is the amount of trash in the park. Please take out what you take in.
