Nauset Marsh and Buttonbush Trail is a 1.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Eastham, Massachusetts that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Cape Cod National Seashore charges a fee to enter. Fees are $25 per vehicle or $15 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot or bike the fee is $15 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $60.
The Nauset Marsh Trail was beautiful on a sunny winter day. The beginning of the trail was flooded due to the astronomical high tide when we went, so we went off trail on a well traversed, but not marked, parallel path in the woods. This wooded path may be difficult for someone not steady on their feet, so pay attention to the tides before you go.
A shorter variation of the Salt Pond Trail without the paved bicycle trail, only woods and marsh. I think I would do this twice if I wanted a longer hike even though the other one is excellent too.
Great trail. 1.2 mile loop w/cranberry bogs, salt marshes, oyster ponds and beautiful views to the beach.
Lovely, gentle bimble with great water views and path through red cedar forest
Fun walk with the kids. Stroller friendly. A few spots slightly difficult with stroller but overall stroller friendly. Beautiful views, nice trail through the woods as well.
Nice short trail with plenty of beautiful views and many resting benches - areas to sit and enjoy your surroundings. Very short trail. Rated as easy.
Walked the outer marsh trail at low tide...absolutely beautiful, peaceful. No one on the marsh but plenty on the groomed trail out from the visitor center. Wouldn’t be able to do it unless at lowest tide. Great cedar forest on the groomed trail, not typical scrub pine. Muddy in some places.
A nice mix of open salt marsh walking and lightly forested hiking. Watch out for some poison ivy in the forest. Very nice!
