A small (209 acre) state property that's ideal for short, easy hikes. The area includes fields, framhouse ruins, saltmarshes, forest trails, and even rocky beach. Short, easy trails branch off the main gravel path.
Nice hike. A bit overgrown in parts, but not too bad. We collected shells by the water. Do not go by the driving directions on here though. Go to the DCR website.
Not a whole lot going on on the trails. Very flat. Would be great for cross country running though. There is a beautiful path that leads to the bay. My dog loves to play on the rocky beach!
The reservation is somewhat short. The traffic was light, however most everyone we saw on the trails had dogs. There was snow on the ground and the shoreline was frozen which was perfect for some great winter shots! Not a trail I would frequent often but still a nice easy walk.
There's a few nice level trails, one goes through a meadow and my favorite leads to the bay. It's about a mile from the lot to the bay. The dog and kids like to go into the water but it's a bit of a rocky shore. I intend to go clam digging there one of these days if I can find a sandier bit of shore. Most of the dog owners are responsible but there are a few, like in most places that just don't care if you're 2 year old might step in their dog's crap.
Several trails to follow. The Meadow trail was very populated with a variety of birds. Great for families, dogs allowed but not always picked up after. Easy, relaxing trails for any level hiker/walker. Trails were well marked.
A nice, very quiet spot for walking/light hiking.
