Great little mountain, not to hard, doable in an hour so so.

Short trail but steep in parts, well marked but we came down after sunset and had to pay close attention in the dark. Great views at the top.

Pleasantly surprised by this little trail. Steep but not undo able. Wide trails and very busy for a weekday. Was initially bumming when got to the summit with the cairn and wattatic monument stone. Views weren’t all that great. Went to the next peak (5 minute easy walk) and BOOM! There’s those views!!! Absolutely stunning up there.

Fun relaxing hike! Had a great time with my 14 year old grandson who thinks trail was “easy” I would say it is more towards moderate. Fun time but don’t forget bug spray.

I am a little bias since this hike is so close to home, but there's so many reasons to keep coming back. there are so many trails to chose from which are all along the challenging to easy spectrum. always pretty, always worth it.

One of the best hikes in MA east of the Berkshires. Very easy trail, a couple hours round trip. Incredible unobstructed views from the summit.

Great hike, not too busy and easily marked. Views from the top are amazing. It was cold but in warmer weather it's a great place for a picnic. Highly recommend.

Trail fairly well marked. Mid point has some steep parts so pace yourself or you'll be panting as it can get strenuous in parts. . Weekends are crowded but no problem, you can park on the side of road if you have too. Views are excellent. Saw plenty of hawks migrating south at summit

This hike was suggested to me by a friend that grew up near Mt. Watatic. I hike almost weekly year round in the White Mountains and really had no interest in such a small hill due to being spoiled by views from the "real" mountains up North. So, after a boring day at home and feeling restless I decided to do this hike and watch the sunset as it is only 45 minutes from home. I have to say the views took me by surprise! 270 degree open views that give the feeling you are on a much higher peak. The hike up has some steep sections but overall is very doable for the average person. It would be a great introductory hike for a beginner as well as children. Unfortunately, the western view was somewhat obscured by trees so the sunset idea did not work out as good as I hoped, although I bet a sunrise hike would be outstanding, so I will return. The trail is well marked with yellow triangles, however, care will be needed to stay on the actual trail as many people have strayed and wandered off trail in the midsection creating random paths that weave about. The good news for those not comfortable with wilderness navigation is all these extra paths seem to blend back into the main trail so getting lost is not a real concern. To sum it up...If you are new to hiking or wish to take a newbie or children for day out this is a great choice. Pack a picnic and hike at a comfortable pace and soon you will be treated to big mountain views ! ! !

Did this hike for the first time, had great weather but lots of mudholes just as a heads up for current conditions.

Quick fairly vertical mildly strenuous hike! Very worth it because of the beautiful view at the top. Rocks were somewhat slippery when we went.

Moderate ascent, not too tough, great views at the summit.

Took my two dogs up Midstate and part of Walch and down Watatic. Temps in the high 30’’s which created lots of fog at the summit. Ice on the trail and slush due to rising temps. Wore crampons which helped a lot.

Fun hike, short but fun. This would be a GREAT snowshoe trek. Just enough vertical and not too long. Oooh, I can't wait!
