What a great trail! The loop is a great way to get in mileage and you can either go to Mount Watatic first and loop back through Nutting Hill or vice versa, though I think the first option is steeper up. The views from the summit were well worth the drive from the Boston area. Most of the trail is rocky with some slabs, so I recommend hiking boots for gripping. Most of the trail is also shaded until the summit and a few open spots.

Hike isn’t difficult, just going uphill for a bit. The view is beautiful!

Small parking lot, so get there early. Relatively easy hike. 360 degree views at top whereby you can see Boston. Lots of dogs. Be sure to plan time to relax and enjoy the view.

We did a great hike, just about 4 miles. Took the trail to the right up to the view ( second vista) then looped around to Nutting Hill, detour .3 mile to cross NH border then back to the parking lot. It is well marked and maintained.

We tried to do this on a Sunday maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago and it was totally packed and we didnt go. So we decided to hit it up today 6/25. This proved to be a fabulous decision since it was a Thursday and most were at work. We got to the lot at 8:45am and by the time we got our gear on the lot was full. Its super small maybe only room for 12 to 15 cars. It was a steady rocky incline up but nothing too strenuous. We only saw a few people at the top and a few families on our way down. The views at the top were just stunning. I didnt expect such views from a short hike. I'm glad I finally got to check this one off my list!

60 yo fit walkers. Great easy to moderate hike. Dry conditions today. No real scrambling just many rocks and roots. Forgot hiking poles but didn’t really need them. Probably tougher descent when moist or wet. Beautiful vista up top!

Mt. Watatic is my new favorite place to hike in Massachusetts. Beautiful forest and views from dual bald summit. Nutting Hill has a nice view as well. Watch out for poison ivy overgrown on Midstate Trail Bypass. We turned around and backtracked rather than push through the poison ivy.

Great moderate day hike. Awesome views at the top. Was going to be a hot day so got an early start. Bugs weren’t too bad. Recommend heading up Nutting Hill first and coming down the Mt. Watatic trail.

Very nice trail. Worth the walk for the scenic overlook. Very rocky and has lots of roots on the trail. Definitely for avid hikers more than the average one. The first part up to the summit is all uphill and very steep/rocky. On the way down from the summit it is less steep and better hiking. Would recommend coming and going from the second part of the trail if you aren’t very fit or in to hiking.

this was a fun, quick trail. I went up Watatic which was quick but challenging and down nutting, and was surprised at how easy nutting was to come down. The view is okay, you can see Boston in the distance but some of the view is covered. Very buggy.

Took my 8 and 11 year old boys here for their first “real” hike! Super doable even for beginners. I’d recommend taking the route up Nutting Hill first and the shorter route down for newbies. Gorgeous views from the summit!! Lots of bugs and mud this time of year. Parking lot had 1 space open when we arrived on a Friday around 1pm.

We did this hike back in March. Easy trail, but way too busy for our liking. Felt pretty crowded the whole time. Views are decent.

This trail was really busy and parking is difficult, but it is still worth the hike for the view. It’s mostly uphill with rocky and tree root terrain.
