This is Section 8 of the Metacomet-Monadnock Train, from the Notch in Granby to Harris Mountain Road, in the Holyoke Range State park. This hike includes Mt. Norwottuck and Long Mountain summits, and passes through the Horse Caves and right near Rattlesnake Knob. Unless you are continuing on the M-M trail to Section 9, or also taking a return trip back to the Notch, you must arrange a pickup at the end of this segment of the trail.

Snoeshoeing 1/6/18. First part of trail had tracks so snow was only avg 6” deep after that ranged from 10”-24” deep. Overall good marked trail and good winter hike. Frigid from 2-7 deg w/ windchill -14 to -16. Look forward to doing it again in the spring.
