A late start after a 1hr 35min ride in from CT to see the Old Stone Church then the Rail Trail, expected a sunnier day but some good shots and saw cool things like the old Mill and bridges and running steams. Happy we got this in before winter. Hike on people!

Following the surprise Halloween snowstorm, it was wet and mushy I spots but very enjoyable.

While my husband jogs on the hard packed trail, I meander along the river on the woodland trail. Foliage starting to look very pretty down there.

Running

Great 10k run (perfectly measured as 5K up to the point where it is blocked for construction at about 3.05 miles) - nice and cool weather - not crowded and serene. Soft gravel makes it easy on the feet wear & tear.

Great trail for running (and biking with gravel surfaces). Closed at 3.1 miles for construction). Great for early morning runs or walks with the sounds of flowing water and serene atmosphere).

Enjoyed running with my wife while our daughter biked. At 3.1 mile there is construction going on and have to return so a 10K instead of 10M

The place is like a walk in the park but within a mile you feel like the only thing around is the highway above. It’s a nice walk with plenty to do in between. There are more walking traffic since it’s close to town. It’s also plenty wide.

Great trail, friendly folks. Dogs allowed up to T/L of Holden. If you look up the statute listed on the sign that says “no dogs”, it is in regard to oil/gas pollutants near watersheds (I-190) is right overhead after all. And besides, you follow the same river through Boylston which allows dogs. Called the town they said it was DCR rule, call DCR, say it’s Holden’s rule. I went 2 miles past the sign and met some great folks, very polite and lived in the town, who also had dogs. So bring Fido, pick up waste, and don’t let them swim. You’ll be fine. Listen to the water and have a great time.

Labor Day ride and the beginning of the trail was packed as I expected and there were actually a lot of people throughout the entire trail ride . A little bit of washout on the big hills before and after the Manning street side which was easily maneuverable.
