Great hike, challenging but fun.

Park at the Audubon Center, pay ($5 per adult) and enter the hike. The trails are clearly marked with yellow and blue blazes starting the Audubon Center. I’m not sure the gps start point of this alltrails would have been easy to follow.

Started from the parking lot at the Mass Audubon Pleasant Valley Sanctuary. Stayed to the left around Pike's Pond (lots of beaver activity around here) until I connected with the Ledges Trail. A few steep ascents and scrambles, which can get a little slick and dicey... Make sure you've got decent footwear! From the top of the steepest ascent, you walk through a lovely alpine-like area with a low canopy and several nice viewpoints. Reaching the cell tower at the summit, there's a great view, but it was very windy so we quickly headed back down along the Overbrook Trail. Great, lush, scenic walk through the woods - and perfectly well-marked the whole way.

Wonderful paths and an incredible panoramic view at the top of the mountain. The return trip was more of following a gravel-laid road and not very entertaining in itself except for an occasional deer crossing the path.

Coming back down I cut across to the Ledges trail and to the ponds at Mass Audubon. Beautiful area.

I accessed this trail from the trailhead shown in Allmaps; However, this trail is not mapped correctly. It actually converges with the trail of ledges at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. The GPS function in Allmsps will take you way off any blazed trail from the point of the intersection with the Trail of Ledges.

After backtracking, I checked the trail of ledges map online and noticed that it would have taken me out to West Mountain Road, a very significant distance from the mapped trailhead. So, this is not really a loop trail, but rather an out and back trail.
