High Rock via Megley and High Rock Trail Loop is a 3.3 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Wrentham, Massachusetts that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
As of February 2020, there is a fence blocking part of the trail but you may detour around it easily.
Some wet spots but that’s expected given the rain we have had! Many more trails here to explore!
A pleasant hike but nothing particularly special. The big glacial boulders scattered around everywhere were kind of cool. The recording I followed covered some fairly rugged paths, I would rate the route as moderate. The fenced off, mysterious, government type building and giant radio tower at the summit were kind of a bummer. But just to the north east of that was a more scenic pile of boulders from which, I assume, the hill takes its name. Important tip, the recording I followed went around the south side of the X-Files building along the fence where there really was no path and this was a pain in the butt. Go around the northside instead. The trip down passed by some interesting granite outcroppings. Not a bad hike.
dry conditions. pine needles/leaves covering rocks/roots. take care!
I forgot my bug spray and had to turn around about a mile into my hike. Lots of spiderwebs and mosquitoes overwhelmed me and I was forced to turn back. I did enjoy the trail up to that point. Little traffic with challenging rocky inclines.
Nice trail except part of it is blocked by a seemingly new fence. Had to detour around that section a bit.
This is a nice hike, but is no longer a valid trail route. The AT&T folks have put up a fence (as of 1/31/20) around their building/property and now you can no longer use that path that closely circled their building. You can detour around fairly easily but the trail route should be redone.
Took my dog, Roger, to a walk in this trail. There were a few trees down on the trail and somewhat easy to get lost, but trail map helped a lot. Beautiful scenery in the fall.
Good trail for easy hike/jog thru the woods. Lots of gnats in summer but bug spray kept them from biting. No views but nice and quiet, at least during the week.
