Groton Town Forest Loop Trail is a 7 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Groton, Massachusetts that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The only bad part is the access road to the parking area. Other than that, the trails are nice, and the walk along the river is beautiful!
Nice deep woods. A few water views. Smaller trails rooty but wider ones fairly smooth.
The trails are awesome, but we didn’t go on the exact loop from AllTrails because it wasn’t marked. We did a 6.4 well-marked loop. It wasn’t too overpopulated, the foliage was nice, as were the occasional views of water
Beautiful trail run, pretty easy to follow (and nice to have the map to reference)! A few downed trees (but only one that I couldn’t scramble and had to bushwhack around)
A couple really steep hills, but so pretty and we only saw one human the entire time. Would definitely recommend!
Nice trail. Added picture of loop trailhead. There are several trails starting in the parking lot. If you want flat, turn around at about mile 3.5. Reviews that said there are steep sections are correct. At about Miles 4, 5, and 6 have short but steep sections that are good for Hiit training. The railroad bridge at mile 3 is worth the extra .4 miles. Nice view. Low usage and as always, keep the app handy as the trails aren’t as clearly marked as one might like. Recommended.
This is the longest trail we’ve actually done to date so it was pushing ourselves a little bit it was a lovely forest and at the end we were down by the Nashua River witch was pretty. There were some very steep sections both up and down that we struggle to with I might have given this a modern it doesn’t nation rather than an easy doesn’t nation. We only saw a couple of people along the way it was on the lighter side I think in terms of trail density on a beautiful fall day.
nice flat going around river. kid comment box on trail under log.
Wonderful town forest, nice views of the Nashua river and a small view of the Squannacook river. Be aware that Hikers share trails with mountain bikers and runners. The trails aren’t well marked although they say Groton Town Forest Network they do not say what trail you are on. AllTrails was essential but it too wasn’t entirely accurate. The map at the entrance wasn’t particularly helpful. Would have given 5 stars but for the trail markings. Still I would recommend it.
one of the best hikes I've done this summer, pretty easy but beautiful well-maintained Trails, lots of options to choose from, very secluded and peaceful. Hardly any bugs today as well, couldn't ask for a better day!
Overall nice trails and forest features. The Nashua River is nice to walk along. Overall easy as there is not much elevation gain.
