Doane's Falls is a 0.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Royalston, Massachusetts that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Trails are drying up. Lots of people out today. Touka made some new friends.
Doane’s Falls and the other falls were gorgeous and worth it. But be warned if you use this trail, the path to get from Doane’s to the next section is off the trail and looks like it’s an out-of-commission path. If I did this trail again, which I would because the falls were so great, I would just find a different way to get from point A to B.
We didn't do the whole loop but we did enough to see two waterfalls. They were beautiful, partially frozen. the trails were mostly ice so crampons are necessary. Beautiful place! Looking forward to returning!
This is my second time hiking Doane's. Recent rain and snowmelt meant that the cascades and waterfall were roaring today. This is a gorgeous area and the Trustees maintains the trail system very well. If you have time and want a longer and more challenging hike, look up nearby Spirit Falls.
Awesome hike however no water at Spirit Falls due to drought. Will be awesome in the spring
