The GPS track and altitude graph are misleading because they follow the river, not the trail. The lower section from Hoosac Road to stream near Conway Station Road do not have good views of the river. The decent to the stream is washed out with water flowing down the rocky / muddy trail. The section North of Conway Station Road is closed due to unsafe conditions. The road is completely washed out at one of the crossing ravines. There are also constant large tree blow-downs repeatedly blocking the trail.

Hiking in March, thetrail is rough in parts to the southeast end. You must be able to climb through several ravines where the original railroad bed is washed out. We 70-year olds managed without too much trouble. There are few people, and one hears nothing but the rush of the river throughout.

Out and back jeep trail, next to train tracks, only .77 miles (one way), views of Deerfield River.
