Great trail, not crowded at all for the special Memorial Day afternoon. Well marked, well built trail. Great view, nice forest, a lake a few small streams.

Beautiful views and great spots to see climbers. But the bugs make it unbearable to stand in one spot for too long.

Hiked 5/19/20. Absolutely gorgeous day in May, and a five star hike. The trail has a variety of difficulty, with some flat even spots, a few rock stairs, and a big rock scramble to get to the top of the ledges that is a challenge. (We traveled clockwise on the loop, meaning we climbed up the scramble at the beginning to an amazing view.) The trails are very clear and well marked. Luckily, no mud but a few bugs. Saw a few other hikers but we were heading out when most people were heading in. Definitely recommend.

From the parking lot a Sweet, relatively quick walk up over a knoll blanketed in Appalachian laurel, that beautiful low tree with shiny leaves and fragrant May blooms. Then descend and up again to the base of the ledge walls - imposing, slightly cantilevered and a very popular climbing spot. Trail leads north (a steep scramble) or south ( more gradual) and ascends to the top of the ledges with multiple, very exposed spots with lovely views and beautiful terrain. Love this hike.

Awesome view at the top of the ledges. Some parts of the trail get narrow and kind of bland but overall a great trail. If you rock climb, the ledges offer cool routes up.

This named loop is actually a combination of several trails but it is well marked. I used the AllTrails app to follow where we went but there are hundreds of other trails we could have gone around on. Lots of steep rocky sections in second half of trail. Took about 1:45 to go 3 miles with the kids.

Nice quick hike. Little steep scramble to top of ledges. Great views as you go along mid state trail along the ledges. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to climb the ledges.

Beautiful easy hike that traverses breathtaking ledges and icy beaches. You do have to cross RT-31 twice. A little bit muddy and slushy, but a nice little climb.

decided to give this trail a try. I would consider this the perfect trail in the winter time for a mild hike. The views in the first 15 minutes of the hike are pretty good, after that it just basically trails through the woods. The only thing about this trail that is somewhat confusing is when you follow it you end up on route 31 which is a paved road. You actually have to cross the street to continue the trail and you end up in leominster State Forest but the main gate of that is locked for the season. You just have to walk around which is no big deal but it got me off guard a little bit. I will definitely do this trail again now that I know it.

I love the ledges area...lots to climb if you are so inclined or optional less challenging trails at base. Fall leaves can obscure some slick rocks so adhere to the three points of contact on the scrambles.
