From the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, continue straight on the Stockbridge-Glendale Road for 1.5 miles. Continue through the golf course, and over the Housatonic river. The trail head is on the right set back from the road, framed by a stone wall. There is a plywood sign reading MAS DEP 296-0394.
There are around 3.5 Miles of various trails that circuitously ramble along the banks of the Housatonic river. It has some interesting scenery, some wonderful old growth Hemlock. None of the grades are particularly steep. One does need to use some caution crossing the tracks of the Housatonic Railroad, which are very much still in operations, however you can hear the trains approaching from miles away, and the trail itself is very near a crossing, so they sound their horns nearby.
