Bash Bish Falls is a great short hiking trail to the highest waterfall in the state of Massachusetts. The falls are located in Southwestern Massachusetts in the Taconic Mountains of Berkshire County, which neighbors Mount Washington State Forest in Massachusetts and Taconic State Park in New York. The park is maintained by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. There are a few access points to the falls and more than one parking lot. You can choose to start from the New York side and cross the state line into Massachusetts or start at either of the two Massachusetts trailheads. Starting at the lower parking area off of Falls Road, this short hike follows a rugged trail along Bash Bish brook through mature forest and over boulders, tree roots, natural stone stairs, and long wooden steps. You are soon rewarded with a view of the beautiful waterfall. The twin falls cascade into a serene pool. Swimming is not allowed in the pool. Use caution as the stones down around the falls are smooth and slick from years of traffic and it is easy to slip.

Easy 3/4 mile stroll up to the falls. Nice falls but overrun with jackasses not heeding the no swimming or diving signs. Loud and full of humanity on a warm weekend. Nice to see it but I don't think I'll be coming back. Not as spectacular as, say, Kent Falls, and just too many people. Parking is also a mess.

This short walk along a stream on a hot day when many people were cooling off walking around in the water was really nice! No swimming by the actual falls (strictly enforced). Super crowded with families and lots of people and dogs.

Great for a family? Two parking sites one further away then the other. Our 7 and 9 yearold loved the hike and the falls. Room to go out on rocks which were safe for most, with the exception of very young kids or those with mobility difficulty. Well worth the trip.

Amazing little hike. We parked at the Bish bash pull off and not at the state park so the hike was shorter. There are some small hills and the terrain is a little rocky at times. When you make it to the top and see the falls you will be in awe. You can take stairs down into the falls and climb the rocks to get some good picture or even cool of quick. No swimming signs are posted everywhere but a ton of people were in the water waist deep. Stairs are very step and uneven so be careful. Our 4.5lb Chihuahua went with us with zero issues. He loved being able to go into the water at the beginning/end of the trail. We camp in the area and this will definitely be a spot we visit often.

Hiked here with my family two years ago and had a picnic on the rocks by the waterfall. Such a beautiful place, it’s a must go if you’re visiting the area.

Wow, what amazing day. It’s a short hike down on the MA side. We even did it in about a half of inch of snow. Be sure to wear warm socks or bring extras, very wet. But stunning falls. I will be back!

NY parking provides an easy family friendly hike to the falls. MA parking gives a short stint of challenging terrain down to the falls, a fun little burst of the hikers high!!

Short hike with awesome views of a moderate waterfall. All along the trail, the air is filled with the sounds of running water, as the path parallels the stream.

Short, rugged trail, boulders and tree roots, natural stone stairs and long wooden steps. Stones down around the falls are smooth and slick from years of traffic, you just have to be careful. Not many visitors this time of year and cooler temperatures made this a very pleasant and quick hike. Very pretty hike through mature forest with lots of moss covered boulders.

Probably one of my favorite waterfall spots! Very easy hike to and from the falls. Hike the stream to or from the falls if you what to be more adventurous BUT be very careful of how slippery the rocks can be! We got there around 9 on a Sunday and we’re the third car in the lot, left at 11:30 and the lot was packed. Get there early if you want to peace to enjoy the beauty of this place.
