Wachusett Mountain via Balance Rock, Old Indian, and Semuhenna Trail Loop is a 3.9 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Westminster, Massachusetts that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is best used from April until November.
NOTE: For the winter 2020 season, hikers are not able to park at the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area parking lot due to an increased skier demand. All vehicles using the lot will need to have a valid lift ticket or ski pass. Please park down the street at the Bolton Road Parking Lot.
Started at Bolton Pond Trail. (Parked on the side of the road with out 5 other cars). You could still see leaves on the ground and everything was pretty wet. At Balanced Rock went clockwise up Old Indian Trail to the summit. Crossed 3 ski slopes so be careful and yield to the skiers. Went up to the tower which overlooks all of Massachusetts. The view was pretty good considering it was a little overcast.. Went down Harrington which was extremely slushy and slippery. Glad I had my poles. Once we got to Semuhenna it wasn't as bad. Alltrails said it was 4.5 miles. Spikes came in handy.
Great snowy hike. Definitely recommend microspikes, saw some folks snowshoeing but not required with the depth of snow Sunday AM. Note on direction: Recommend go clockwise/stick to the right trail as the left one goes on the actual ski runs and you'll find yourself running across trying to avoid skiers.
Muddy with running water in most parts of Mountain House. Trekking poles and good boots for sure helped here today. Lots of people out.
Loved it..., muddy in parts easiest trail at wachusett I’ve found!
Awesome morning for a walk. Went early only saw 2 others on the trails!
Good hike. Took a right at one point at ended up on different more difficult trail that took longer. Very steep parts but a great workout.
Pretty cool. Favorite part was Josti’s Vista right of the trail before the top of the mountain. Awesome view and we were the only ones there
