Not meant to be a real challenge as it's an old railroad bed. Recovering from knee surgery due to an accident I received last fall coming down a mountain, this allowed me to get some nice views and enjoy a sunny day. Started in Lanesborough and went to to Adams then back in just over a couple hours, about 20 miles round trip. Many walkers along with cyclists.

rather boring straight and long trail, nice views on lake unfortunately quite rare.

Excellent path and not too crowded. Gorgeous scenery. We (wife and I) started on the Adams side of the trail. This was easier for us, as it was all uphill to begin and a smooth coast back.

Pretty much straight walk and there are very less people on the trail due to the 40 degree weather and wintry mix. It was beautiful with nice views of mountains and lake. The spring green leaves make it look like fall all over again. We had to return after 6 miles because we had to back another 6 miles and we did not bring any snacks.

As far as pavement goes, this is pretty nice. Clean, never very crowded and plenty of distance for hours of sight-seeing exercise!

Fast and flat with very scenic views.... Not too crowded, especially in the rural sections.

A day out to fish the stream. Beautiful day and caught a nice rainbow trout!

If you park at the trailhead, you'll need to walk 2.5 miles before seeing the beautiful lake shown in pictures. I recommend driving down and parking at the additional trail entrance a few miles in. This is much closer to the gorgeous view!

Use the trail all the time. Gets a bit crowded in the afternoon, but head farther north (towards Lanesboro/Cheshire) and it gets less so. Glad to have this easy access resource nearby!

some icy spots on trail, but that's expected for January. trail was well used today. disgusted by how many piles of dog poop there were.

A nice flat and easy paved trail. Great for the entire family. The views were great even on our cloudy day. Diane's Twist Ice Cream shop is along the way which gives the kids the little extra boost. Traveled 1hr 45 min to get there but well worth the trip.

Awesome trail for biking & walking. 10.6 miles from end to end. Nice easy sudle decline heading east and Just enough incline heading back west to get the blood flowing. The Scenery is worth the visit. Plenty of spots for taking pictures & benches along the way to rest. There's even a restaurant or two right on the path.. Don't think about going; just go, you won't be sorry....

This is a great rail trail. We started in Lanesborough at the Berkshire Mall and rode to the Adams Visitor Center. The trail is flat and quite scenic. About a third of the distance is along the Cheshire Reservoir and the Berkshire mountains make a nice backdrop. This is well worth the two hour drive and we plan to do it again soon.

The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail is a paved bike path that spans from Adams, MA to Lanesborough, MA. The scenery along the trail is absolutely beautiful! From gorgeous forest, to streams, waterfalls, ponds, and even a lake, this trail takes you through some of the best of what nature has to offer! Included in the great scenic views is a fabulous view of Mt. Greylock, the tallest mountain in Massachusetts. This rail trail primarily follows along route 8. However, it is set away from the road so far that you rarely feel like you are any where near it. There are also benches and picnic tables dotted along the entire length of the trail. The trail is a very easy bike or walk and is suitable for families with children of all ages. There is plenty of parking at either end of the trail and at several access points in between. This bike / walk / skate / ski is definitely worth a visit.
