Good for families with small kids. Not a ton to look at but not a bad trail by any means.
Probably the easiest and best maintained trail in Gambrill. If you’re looking for a nice short hike, or don’t have any experience hiking, this is the trail to start with. Lots of chipmunks out and about, but not much else as far as wildlife.

White trail counter clockwise downhill the first 4/10 which is tough and then the other part is an easy uphill. So says Linda

Great walk
Great hike for the family. Very easy
Well maintained walking trail. Dogs allowed on leash. Great trail markings are easy to see and follow. A little rocky but not difficult to navigate. Nice off road gravel parking area for 25 cars. Porta potty in parking lot. Pet waste station there as well. Some of the best trails in the USA are right here in Frederick county!
Lovely spot for a quick after work hike. This trail is great for beginners as well as experienced hikers looking for an easy stroll.

took my wife and 4 kids ( range from 3 to 13) nice little trail for those new to hiking.
Rocky path. beautiful. good Sept canopy makes it nice to jog even in rain. about 4-5 fallen trees need to be cut from path.
Really good trail for kids and dogs. Really easy for beginners !!
Entering the trail from the right of the parking area is a rocky downhill hike. Beginners like my husband and I benefited from using trekking poles. The second half of the loop heading back up to the left side of the parking area is much smoother.
My husband and I randomly decided at 10am that we wanted to go for a good hike but still be done in time to get the kids from school. We got to the trail head around 11am. We took our time and made frequent stops to just enjoy nature. We were done by noon. Even with stops it was about an hour and very enjoyable. We’ll definitely bring the dog next time but it’s a little too rocky for our 4yo to hike without constantly tripping. Great for big kids, adults, and a sturdy dog
Nice Hike
