Westside and Blue Heron Loop Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Derwood, Maryland that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

this was definitely not a moderate hike. nice for a paved path, but not what we expected. our dog also couldn't go.in the water. there were signs posted about a dangerous algae.

⅔ of the way around the lake. took some trails off the main one. mostly wide maintained trails.

Did orienteering event so running off trail to find controls

Took us under an hour on 1-27. Nice views of Lake Needwood. Needed to consult the app regarding directions.
