The Upper Glen Artney Area consists of multiple trails which include Soapstone (PURPLE), Bull Run (ORANGE), Bike Jumper (YELLOW), Vineyard Spring (RED) and the Santee (WHITE). The Santee trail is considered as the Thru-Trail but truly doesn’t run the entire length of the Patapsco Valley State Park. One day it will be much like the White Blaze on the AT. The most challenging parts of this trail system are the Bike Jumper and the Bull Run. The Bull Run does have a few switchbacks but only on one side of its loop. There are two feeder stream crossings but they are very manageable. It's not a very large loop and has short mileage but you will get a good workout. You can shorten this hike by using the inside loop of the Bull Run Trail. Restrooms and Water fountain are located near the starting point by the Soapstone trailhead inside the Park..

Great evening on the trail. Very few people hiking since the kid have went back to school. Still plenty of biker though. There is still a few spots that are a bit muddy from all the recent rain we continue to get. After my uphills workout, I sat at one of the parks picnic tables and had a Mountain House meal for dinner. It was even cool enough to make a cup of coffee. I always carry my frame-backpack with everything I would ever need. Even bedding!! Always be prepared !!
