I love this trail. 7.5 miles with some hills and lots of roots. Even on busy days you won't see many people on the trail. I like to walk it. Others will run or bike it. The lake is popular with boats with small engines or kayaks. It is watershed so it as a earth dam that is in full sun. All but that 1 mile of this trail is in shade. The park is very clean and a great deal of parking. It can take me from 2.5 to 3 hours to walk so bring water and my be a snack. I try to walk this trail at least once a month.

My goto trail area as it so close. In summer much of the lake is not visible due to leaves. Also in summer more difficult to see bikes so stay alert. Still a pretty summer run. Great in the fall and winter. The section of the damn overlooking the lake is very scenic and worth stopping to admire. I run it in 1:45 and I am a .....slow..... runner. Has some roots and I have over the years managed to hit everyone. Minimal wildlife. Sometimes deer, turkeys, and fish jumping. A few snakes, but they stay away from the trail. During the week, you can often "own" the lake and trail to yourself. More traffic on weekend.

This is a fun easy trail if you have a few hours to spare. Saw lots of frogs/toads, squirrels, and a couple deer! Very green and peaceful!!

Date: 3/26/2017 Nice Hike. Watch out for mountain bikes and tree roots. Nice views of the lake with out leaves on the trees and brushes.

This trail is perfect for about a 2.5 hr activity. There are plenty of fun plank bridges over mud puddles and adorable streams in between root-plenty trail. This is my favorite activity to do on a day off work with the dog! The kids can come too, but depending on their age they may not be able to do the whole loop.

I think it's a great hiking trail but if you are trying to do walk it with your dog beware of the bikers. The trails are very narrow and you can't see the bikes coming, really hard to move yourself and your dog out of the way to not get hit.
