This is a great short trail loop if you are pressed for time. Even the kids wouldn’t get boarded. The Rockburn Loop (PURPLE) itself is a fairly flat well used trail. The access to Ridge Trail (ORANGE) connector (Water Bars) is a short walk up River Rd. from the parking lot at the playground. The Ridge Trail section is a bit of an uphill incline but is truly easy for all.

I was lucky enough to finish before the rain came. Feel sorry for all the people having Cookouts for the Memorial Weekend. The park was super crowded and the line getting into the main entry, when I was leaving, was 10 cars long. The Grist Mill trail is paved and flat but the RIdge and View Valley will kick your butt in some areas. Trails were mainly dry and only water in a few spot. Well, not anymore. Rained quite hard when the shower came through.

Check Out my recent 4.5 Mile Valley View Ridge Hike.
After 2 days of rain and 1 day for the trails to dry up a bit, it was time to take a hike. The Ridge Trail is (Orange) and the Valley View Trail is (White). The choice is yours! Both Trails run across the ridge up above River Rd. There are only a couple baby stream crossings. It was 78 degrees and humid so the terrain for this old senior was a bit challenging..3-Miles of this Trail contents a lot of heavy ups, easy downs with some rocks and roots along the way. The last 1-1/2 Mile is River Rd. and it's Paved. Its easier to park at the Playground then parking at the Swinging Bridge due to the Terrain. River Rd. is basically downhill, which makes it easy to get to the finish line.

really enjoyed this hike last Friday. Trail is well marked and easy to follow. Many offshoots to extend the hike. Great views of the valley.
