Beautiful views and tall pine trees. Challenging climbs for this intermediate trail runner. Remember to always check for ticks, folks!
Beautiful trees and view of water with good amount of elevation change for the area
Good hike with some small hills throughout to make it slightly challenging. I think the moderate rating is fitting mostly because of the total mileage. Great views of the water throughout the trail, and a very pretty pine forest section as well. I went on a Friday in January and I only saw like 3 people the whole hike. The parking lot is not big so I could definitely imagine it fills up quickly on a weekend.
start before 9:30am or it gets crowded and muddy. nice trail with hills for a decent workout.
Pretty dry and sparsely populated until 10am-ish on a weekend. We arrived at 9am and were the third car. Passed tons of people on the way back, and the parking area was full when we finished at 1pm.
Early January. Gorgeous, quiet and quant. Trails had but a few other hikers. Spent time sitting along the shore and listening to the water. Not far from town. Recommend!
My choice for this years First Day Hike. Happy New Year. Indeed, the elevations at the beginning will get the heart pumping. Path is well maintained and wide for almost the entire length. Whenever the winter scenery got boring the next turn seemingly had a view of the water or a section with pine trees on each side. All worth the view at the point. Started at 8AM and only encountered 4 other hiking groups.
I started at 9am, and didn´t see anybody until the way back. Pretty trail with lots of glimpses of the water, especially now with the leaves off the trees. Out and back trail, with just one small section where the trail diverges to make a little loop. Because of all the twists and turns and the ups and downs, coming back looked different from going out, so it gave it the feel of being a true loop.
Great trail loved it as a first time visit. Hilly is the name of the game.
Nice views over the water. Hilly, so get a workout but never too much up or down at a time. Most beautiful part was the Coots Peninsula.
Very beautiful trail along the lake and out to the peninsula through pines and deciduous forest. Lots of elevation gain and loss near the beginning and especially on the southern loop out on the peninsula. Only ran into a handful of other people and most masked up too
Great trail, wide open trail and very easy to follow. There are a few trails connected so make sure you use the map when you get to the splits. The reservoir is gorgeous and I would highly recommend this trail. It’s not as easy as it looks, going down is great but we really started to feel it coming back. Great work out!
