HikingGreat!

Nice varied trail. The bluebelles along the Mason Dixon section are in full bloom. We got a late start at 10am so there were a lot of people already but still parking available by the old Grist Mill.

Amazing. Checks all the boxes. Streams, rocks, fields, trees, history, etc. App worked the whole time, which was great when you have to navigate the various forks.

Jaw dropping, honestly. A really good moderate hike with open meadows, sweet grass, shady glens, a couple of river crossings, and amazing historic elements. Saw TWO champion trees! Doesn’t hurt to also love the company you’re hiking with. A+++

Tough trail, definitely longer than 8.3 miles. Most is wooded/shady, but there’s a significant stretch through an open exposed field. That part is brutal in the sunlight. A lot of good spots to take a little break or detour. The Champion White Oak is really cool and only a short detour. Has some benches there.

Nice mix of field and forest, flat and hilly trails. Wear appropriate footwear as some areas are rocky/slippery the morning after a rain, and there’s two decent stream crossings where I had to get in the water a bit. The trails are really well marked with sign posts that have trail names and colors and also several blazes. If you go clockwise from the gristmill parking area it starts off red, then white, yellow, blue, orange, back on blue, green and back on red. I didn’t even need the app except for the area where you cross the first stream and then the road from the yellow trail to the blue trail. It was about 9.5 miles for me, rather than 8.3. Plenty of parking. Overall enjoyable except for some of the overgrowth of prickly things on parts of the red/yellow trail...which seemed to make for prime spider web real estate about every 10 feet this morning :O

Great signage throughout all the trails (all the blazing/signs with matching colors). As others have mentioned, there are couple spots where the intersection or entrance of a trail does not quite align with the dashed paths on AllTrails map, but as long as you know the color you need to follow isn't a problem. There were only 1 or 2 spots I encountered, but seemed to follow the AllTrails path for the majority of it. Suggest comparing with or giving park trail map a glance beforehand if unsure: https://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Documents/SSP_map.pdf The brief segment of trail at the southern corner down to Lapidum Rd is rather worth it if you enjoy lots of curves and steeper trail (even a bench with an actual view not too far down from the main trail). There is also a short segment of Mason Dixon Trail that switchbacks up/down from the Ridge trail down to Stafford Rd (AllTrails shows a more straight path which isn't actually there)...also worth it if you like more rugged/rocky experience.

I was worried about the trail being tough to follow, but the reviews were wrong. Some good up and down, lovely little spot for lunch at a quaint campground right round the middle point. there was only one spot where the All Trails map was a little off but if you cross the creek and follow the blazes to the road, look left and head towards the house you see, you'll find it again with ease. Really well shaded and a couple of AWESOME trees!

Followed the trail to a T, didn't backtrack, and we ended at 9.3 miles and 1400+ feet of elevation. Trail isn't the easiest to follow, but suggest keeping Alltrails on standby to double check any turns/possible splits.

I wish I would of read the reviews before I took this trail. The reviews were right, it's impossible to follow. We also had to hike the road to find the orange trail back to the car. 4 miles turned into 7+ quickly. Was a nice hike but I also would not do this again until they figure out how to better mark the trails.

This trail was impossible to follow. No matter which way I went I couldn't seem to follow the trail. I eventually had to follow the roads before I could hook back up with Trail which resulted in an extra 2 miles being added to the hike. While it's a pretty area and there were some decent elevation on the trail parts that I was able to follow I wouldn't consider this trail again.

There are a number of hiking trails within the Susquehanna State Park you can hike so I recommend you print off the trail map from their web page. I hiked the Susquehanna Trail from Lapidum and then came back using the Land of Promise Trail. There are enough trail in the park to keep you busy for a day.
