Very nice, easy, walk on a paved trail. There are some gymnastic stops on the trail for who wants to work out in the mean while ;-) . Well maintained, even now in winter times. Water view very nice.

Great trails for walking/running and biking. Some paths are freshly re-paved and smoother...others still need a bit of TLC. Definitely need bug spray, but it is a park with trees, so I guess that's a given! :) I get an annual pass (it includes other parks), but I definitely get more than my money's worth just from how often I go to Down's Park!

Well kept trails. Very clean park. Dog friendly. Very safe to walk alone anytime. Numerous benches line the trails. Very kid-friendly. Mostly level and paved. Great place for seniors to get exercise. There are some dirt trails as well. Perimeter trail is 3.5 miles. Senior trail is 1.5 miles. Deer, foxes, muskrats, and other wild life. Take insect repellant.

Great and paved, good for strollers. Only bad thing is LOTS of mosquitoes in summer, along wooded trails. Also has a dog beach, bathrooms, and playground.

Very nice trail, lots of wild life. Trails are not clearly marked, map was also confusing.

Nice amount of paved trail however confusing. Markers for main trail were not clear. I got lost a few times. Very shaded and lots of deer even in warm weather.

Love this place, especially the dog beach! Perfect for walking and running with my dog.

If you are looking for a good workout on the kayak put in at Downs park and head north to Fort Smallwood. Lots of inlets to explore! It's approximately 5 miles between parks without any side excursions so plan for at least a ten miler. Bring snacks and water. Early morning is the best for level water.

I'm here a lot with my kids. This is a nice, easy, paved trail through some very nice woods and with a nice view of the Chesapeake Bay in a few places. Check out the salt marsh pond overlook, and aviary for rescued birds. There's a playground for your kids and a dog beach for your dog. The trail is great for jogging or walking.

Didn't have cash on hand to pay the entrance fee ($6 no debit or credit cards accepted) so I had to find a nearby ATM. Fine walk though.

Nice paved loop trail around the perimeter of the park, passing though some light forested areas, some open areas and by the water. Trail features a couple bridges and wildlife; we saw a doe standing along the trail. There is also a fishing pier, playground and dog beach available. Great location for a family outing, picnic and having fun with Fido. The park also has a bike club where after you log 360 miles of riding, you can earn a patch from the Park information center. There is a small fee for entry (free for veterans with ID) and ample parking.

Nice walking trail - very easy and has wooded areas in addition to water views. Best for dog owners because at the end of the trail there is a small dog beach that is usually not very crowded. Important to know that the dog beach is slightly fenced off but not contained like a dog park.

Very nice maintained paved trail with moderate traffic. Trail is very dog friendly and even has a outdoor gym south of ranger station with dumb bells and whatever you need to get a quick pump in while out hiking. Beautiful views of the water. Great place for a leisure walk with family. Not very challenging if that's what your going for...
