It depends on what time of the year you hike/walk this easy trail on its condition. Last year cleats were needed this time of year (end of December) and this year maybe packs with cleats in some areas. There are many beautiful viewing areas, especially for sunsets on one side of the peninsula, as well as tiny islands during low tide on the other side. Then there is a mossy section of trees along the trail, which is stunning itself. The only issue is parking during summer/fall vacation time, but it is accessible all year. It's well worth the trip, plus you can stop by other trails nearby.

Easy trail, and easy to follow. We went at night to stargaze on the beach and check out tide pools, and it was a safe quick hike with only small flashlights. The trail is cleared well, but there are occasional lose rocks and big rocks sticking up in the middle of the trail, so if you hike at night make sure to keep your light in front of you. Made a loop with Ship Harbor Trail by walking along coast for a bit. Gorgeous! Great rock hopping !

It was a nice easy trail to end the day with. We were looking for something nearby and easy after hiking Beech Mtn and Parkman Mtn. earlier in the day and this was just perfect.

This was a great little change to see small displays of what would be undersea! Lots of large seaweed, snails, a few crabs, birds, barnacles, etc. I was told there used to be starfish and whatnot there, but we may have not seen them for seasonal reasons. The views of the water and surrounding forestry were also beautiful. The hike was VERY simple and short - perfect for toddlers or those unable to walk far! I wish they would make it more accessible as they easily could, and the view is phenomenal!

Wooded part of trail is just average. Trail gets better towards the end when you scramble the rocks along the shore.

Fun to hike across the rocks. You will definitely see more people here then most places. Still would recommend.

Nice short out and back trail. It is flat and not paved. We saw a seal in the water off the beach. It was a little crowded . Ship Harbor trail was mouth more interesting.

This is more about the destination than the trail to the ocean. After a pleasant flat stroll you reach the gorgeous rock coast. Wonderful for just walking on the stones and looking into tidal pools.

Kids loved hiking along the ocean and rocks

A fairly flat out-and-back to nice stretch of rocky shoreline. View at the end is similar to the nearby Ship Harbor Trail, but there are fewer aquatic views on this trail. Overall, I prefer the nearby Ship Harbor Trail to this one.

This was a great hike with our 3 children. Our 18 month old rode on my back in a carrier and our 4 and 6 year olds walked. My 62 year old non-active father came along as well and didn’t have any trouble. It was a relatively short walk to a beautiful rocky beach with lots of tide pools and a very serene setting. My kids loved that part the most! We packed a few sandwiches and ate on the rocks at the beach. There were mosquitos along the path but it wasn’t awful. Flowers were blooming as well and there were lots of things for the kids to see. Someone mentioned that the trail is not stroller friendly but our BOB jogger would have done handled it easily. We didn’t bring it but we have brought it on more challenging trails in the past without issue. Bikes are not allowed so I’m not sure about the rules for strollers. All in all, I highly recommend this trail, especially with children!

Simple hike, worked well for small dogs and would be good for kids too. Ends at a nice beach area of rocks and tide pools— these are very slippery, so use caution.

Decent walk to the shore through different environments. At low tide you can walk along the rocks on shore, but don't expect tide pools. Beware the mosquitos!
