Beautiful trail to explore. It's a pretty smooth path, but parking is limited. Great for all ages and levels (I don't think there's any elevation, and there are minimal root/tripping hazards, if any). I would highly recommend researching for low tide beforehand, so that you are able to walk across to the island (be cautious that there are many rocks to maneuver on that are slippery--appropriate shoes are recommended for that part.

Beautiful property. Short hike with nice views. Perfect for young families. Would be great if they added an additional trail through the wooded section to the left of the trail. Hope that something is done to save the historic home.

Had an enjoyable day out on this trail with family. While the parking lot is quite small, the trail is wide, well marked, and a super easy stroll for any age or level of fitness. For little ones, the numerous bump outs to explore the shore are fun diversions, and while we didn’t make it across to the island due to the tide being in, I can see how that additional feature could make this a more exciting hike for an inter-generational group (where younger/older members could stay on the shore while older members head towards the island). I imagine in the summer you’re better served by biking to the trail head as I can’t imagine parking being readily available. Regardless, a great entry level experience for hikers wanting some variety of settings or traveling with hikers of varying abilities.

HikingGreat!

lovely spot. We went for sunrise - there's a nice beach to see the sunrise right at the trail head. Also hit the trail for low tide, so we got to walk around the island (we had plenty of time, weren't racing the incoming tide)

A strong word of caution… Don’t park your car very low in the marshy area on the lower parking lot. When we returned, the tide had come in, and if we did not have a pick up truck, we would have been in very big trouble!

Nice flat trail, go when the tide is low so you can walk to the island. Good shoes are recommended if you plan on walking around the island-lots of rocks! Lots of bugs too. Good walk especially for a cloudy day. 5 parking spots right at the trail head. Have fun!

Great trail for kids with a lot to see along the way. We try to catch it at low tide to be able to extend the trip out to the island.

I chose this trail because a favorite was too busy, and boy am I glad I did. This trail gives you bits of Maine everywhere you step from the rocky coast, to cattails, and tree-lined paths with plenty to see off trail. Low tide is definitely the time to go and explore the ocean floor while you can; finishing off at the Ewing House is the ultimate reward I was not expecting but somehow wished for. A must see.

We loved this easy trail with our 3 year old. It was just before twilight and there were a lot of mosquitos, but the weekend after labor day there were almost no other visitors and nice parking. We'll definitely come back!

This is a short and very easy walk with beautiful views. Timber Island, at the end of the trail, is accessible by land bridge only at low tide. The old Ewing property, built in 1931, is still standing and is worth a look. There are plenty of places along the trail to rest and enjoy the scenery.

This is our first time using the App and it’s been so helpful! This is a perfect short hike with a young family (with a 9, 6 and 2.5 year old and 7 month old in tow). Easy route, short enough for the second youngest to walk it. Stunning views - marshes, woods, ocean - what else can one want! The trail is well maintained with clear signs and helpful information.
