HikingGreat!

I expected nothing and received a lot! The Morse Mountain lot was full so I went on AllTrails and found the spot not knowing that it was gonna be a beautiful and long hike with heart pumping step ups and step downs, very little total incline but a very great walking work out. The train is constantly changing which is Beautiful to experience as you move from one part of the forest to the next. I loved the mini waterfall and the view at the pond was extremely peaceful. All in all this was an extremely pleasant surprise and I will definitely go back on a regular basis. I am not that impressed with height and views. I am more impressed with not knowing what’s around the corner and having flora and fauna constantly change and this trail has that. Bring water! The trail is almost six miles and towards the end I wished I had brought more water.

Nice hike. Pay attention as trail markers aren’t always clear.

bugs were ok if you brought bug spray, only good part was the second part of the loop, where there was a pond and frogs. at the loop split take a left not right. to the right is boring and uneventful would have been quicker if I didnt have a third person. there is a wasp nest right against the trail if you take the right at the split.

On the easy side of medium. Lots of diverse terrain to look at. A good loop all and all. A bit overgrown but that makes it feel like you are out in the wild. :-)

At the trail head there was a sign today (7/17/20) that said "Trail Closed." It is not. Upon closer examination, it is a notice about a portion of the trail that is closed. However, the portion that is closed (an off-shoot near the pond) does not interfere with hiking the complete loop. This is a good, long hike (~3 hours for us) with a few challenging spots (especially for the vertically challenged; my wife is < 5 ft). As others have noted, bugs were more plentiful near the water, but overall it was relatively bug-free. Overall, a very enjoyable hike.

I thought this was a great moderate hike. The bug volume was low but definitely increased by the water. There was a lot of overgrowth and downed trees. Markings were very clear.

Trails were very easy to follow and clear. Blazes were easy to spot and well marked. Agree with previous review about most of the trail looking the same. Not much for visual stimulation. Managed to spot quite a few different birds and heard many more that I couldn’t spot. All though not my favorite hike for visual pay off. If you are in search of birds or just looking for a nice easy hike this place isn’t bad for that.

I was really expecting to enjoy this trail but alas, it was quite boring. I wasn’t visually stimulated - the majority of the trail looked the exact same. Many of the bridges to walk across were well worn and felt unsafe. The trails were marked clearly, there were hardly any bugs, and Sprague Pond was nice to see. One time around was enough for me.

This good, easy/moderate hike was 5.5 miles, not the 4.3 miles noted in the AllTrails description. The trail is marked with blue blazes and meanders off the AllTrails marked map frequently. We also ran into "Meditation Trail," marked with yellow blazes. It does not appear on the AllTrails map. An update by AllTrails is overdue. Despite at least one other hiker's description of this trail as "boring," we found an interesting variety of terrain and much worth photographing. I probably took more photos on this hike than on most of the other below-the-treeline hikes we've done. There are river, pond, and waterfall features, as well as beautiful moss-covered headwalls and other rock formations, pleasant forestation, and noteworthy uprooted trees with the rootballs still attached. The trail itself was not uniform, but a nice mix of flat walking with tripping hazards and mild elevation for breaking a sweat. The trail was not entirely well-marked or trodden, either, but refreshingly wild in spots due to fallen or uprooted trees causing us to lose the trail thrice. We also liked the fact that the "bridges," such as they were, were not engineered, professionally installed structures and added an element of fun to crossings. A lunch break at the falls is definitely the highlight. Don't expect any views at the "summit" - again, this is all below the treeline. We saw several groups along the hike, but nothing intrusive, and based on the condition of the trail, I suspect it's not over-run even during the busy season. Few bugs when we hiked it, but I gotta second another hiker's review that the water features that cause this area to be wet and muddy, in spots, mean loads of bugs later in the season. If you take the left fork where the parking lot access trail meets the loop trail, its an easy walk in the woods to the falls - just watch the stones and roots. The mild elevation and trail wildness appear on the portion of the loop past the falls, or if you take the right fork from the access trail at the loop. Definitely recommend this hike.

If you love the woods, you’ll love this walk. Lots of memorable features and enough distance to really escape for a while into nature.

Great hike for a sunny afternoon. Very well marked trail ( blue blazes) . Small lot easy to find following AllTrails directions. Nice, quiet walk in the woods. The pond was beautiful and the waterfalls too. Be sure to take the Meditation Path which is a relatively short add-on. My AllTrails location did not track well on the second half of the trail, which has never happened before, but the trail was easy to follow. Just one significant blowdown and one rock hopable crossing. I wore sneakers for this and would rate the trail as easy( rather than moderate) except for the length.

A very nice woods trail with lots of big beautiful rocks and hills. Be prepared to cross a few rivers/streams. Lots of beautiful mini waterfalls and turtles in the pond!
