Shackford Head Trail is a 1.6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Eastport, Maine that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

My review disappeared. Try again. It was a nice little hike but the blazes need a lot of work. Most were so faded or almost gone. Maybe completely gone or never there with far distances between them. There were places o had to look for the trail. If you have never been there before it's confusing.
There is a red fire ant infestation posted there right now. There was a spot I stopped to get something out of backpack and looked down to see my boot covered but didn't seem bad if you keep moving.

Great hike. We hiked almost the entire loop, about 2.5 miles very hilly in some sections. It was foggy when we started, but it burned off and led to some awesome views. There is a fire and warning, so be aware. Tennis shoes, hiking boots, or something similar and long pants are recommended.
