The first leg of this trail is very difficult. The rest of the way down is easy and very smooth, making this on average, a great trail for all skill levels.

I had so much fun!!! It’s March so upon starting the Goat Path I quickly put my spikes on. It was challenging with the ice but so much fun!!! My old English bulldog has 10 inch legs, normally she can scale anything, but she needed a few boosts. The top is characteristic of Acadia mtns in that the top is long and goes for a long time. I LOvE that! I’d see a view, get excited, see the enchanted forest thing happening with the trees, get excited, then repeat with more views and cool forestry. At the bottom I was delighted by the small waterfall. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed flowing water that’s not encrusted in ice. The pond walk was cool too. I’ll definitely be back!

Great hike, 37 degrees cloudy and raw with soft snow and ice patches. We meant to start by going up Goat Trail to avoid the icy descent but did the opposite. Rigorous going uphill but quite manageable. Getting down Goat Trail in the snowy icy conditions was a challenge. Very slow going with some sliding down bottom first. Had my 40 lb dog with me which made matters trickier. All in all a great afternoon and im looking forward to going again in the spring. (And climbing UP Goat trail).

Great views from the top of Norumbega Mtn. I took the Norumbega Mountain Trail out and back to avoid ice on the Goat Path. Steady but manageable hike up. Some ice at the end of December but you could step around it.

Great photo ops when you do it during a driving windy rain storm. No people in my pictures just us crazy 4 and nature

Great views from the top. Would recommend to hike clockwise, so you hike uphill on Goat Trail.

A bit vertical at the beginning; pretty spots along the way, with ocean and foliage, views, lichen fields, a pond, falls, a brook, and bogwalks.

Goat trail is a steep rocky climb to the top but it’s quick and has a lot of natural stairs to maneuver easily (would avoid if your afraid of heights). Was able to get up there with my small maltipoo (11 lbs). It’s definitely a quiet hike, only met one other friendly couple on the summit. The views on top are very scenic, just take your time to notice them. The hike down was gradual and peaceful, beautiful moss forest floors, tons of mushrooms, aromatic pines. The stroll along lower haddock is calming before you hit the previously mentioned rooted floors of the connector trail (quite unforgiving). It was nice to get away from the crowds and still get your blood flowing :)

Amazing trail with lots of variety- one of our favorites in ANP, but ‘root fields’ about .5mi from end were no fun.

not much to see aside from a couple views of NE Harbor. Nice quiet hike. wouldn't recommend the goat path if it's been raining.

fun upphill on goat trail, pretty hike for the most part, except last mile full of roots and small rocks. tough terrain.

This hike has a challenging start on the Goat Trail portion and finishes with a relaxing stroll through mature forest. Views are limited to the end of the first leg which is the only reason it gets three stars but still highly enjoyable and a quiet alternative to the more popular hikes on the island!

Très belle randonnée. Le sentier de chevre n'est pas si difficile ( environ 15 min de montée). Mes enfants de 8 et 9 ans l'ont fait très facilement. Le reste est très très facile.

This trail was pleasant, but it does not provide views as spectacular as Champlain, Penobscot, Cadillac, etc. Best view is somewhat south of the actual summit. Too many 10-15 ft jack pines elsewhere.

This trail was worth the effort. First it was not full of people. Second The first part is a goat trail but that made it fun and challenging. Thirdly - the view is worth it - we could see miles and miles. The trail is very well marked until the section along the pond after the bridge but it was clearer. The roots were a bit challenging but also incredible to see the roots grabbing anything to be alive

Great trail. Little bit of everything! Goat Trail is a great, but taxing start. The loop along Hadlock Pond is awesome with great views, a waterfall, and a portion along a small creek. This is a must for anyone visiting Acadia.

Goat path was very challenging, half a mile straight up but a great workout. Forest trails were very buggy when we hiked in early July. Not many views at the summit but some great views on the way up the Goat Path.

The goat path section of this loop was great! Gets the blood flowing with some somewhat steep sections. Once you start nearing the top you have great views for pictures. The descent was nice with a more even/level pace down to the lake. Then back across to the starting point was not difficult at all but full of roots that make for easy twisted ankles so be careful. All in all, great hike!

Enjoyed climb in the beginning! But, 1/3 had lots of roots.

Took the goat path to start. Steep climb to start with a few minor technical areas. The hike on top and down was great. Would have rated 5 stars but the last bit of the trail has lots of roots.

this was a fun hike with lots of different features. definitely go up the goats trail first and bring micro-spikes in the early spring. very icy and wet. goats trail is a sharp ascent with quite a bit of scrambling. there were several downed trees on the Nurembega trail that blocked the trail. some nice water features and young growth pine forest.
