We went up with hiking boots and ski poles. There was a layer of hard-packed snow over the trail and parts of it were icy, but we did fine with our gear. The sky was clear when we reached the top and the view of the lake and islands was spectacular. 5/5 stars.
Nice hike in the snow with the puppy. A little slippery at times, so definitely a moderate hike. Enjoyed it thoroughly!
Beautiful. Bit of a challenge maybe if you’re not an experienced hiker. Some legit rocky terrain to traverse right from the get go. For me, not an avid hiker but with a love for the woods and being in decent shape, it was a joy.
The trail was easy to follow and very, very well groomed. I typically migrate to mountains categorized as “easy”, so this one was a steeper incline than I’m accustomed (for an old lady), but the beautiful trail and gorgeous views from the top were well worth it! I’d rate it as easy to moderate category. I’m sure it would be an especially beautiful view in the autumn. Have fun!
Hidden gem! Great loop trail. well marked with scenic views from Mount Phillip.
This rock- and boulder-strewn loop is nice because you barely retrace your steps. There are two major view points at the top, but there is not much space from which to enjoy them if others are present; social distancing is definitely tricky. Also, we found the trail to be quite busy and would have appreciated a “one-direction” approach to the loop which would have potentially cut down on intersecting with others. During our hike (1pm on a drizzly Sunday), we crossed paths with five different groups ranging in size from two to six members apiece.
