Front trail is a great little hike! Some scrambling needed but really accessible to everyone. You can also DRIVE up to the top from the Camden Hills State Park (Route 1 North) side if you wish. Great view of Penobscot bay and downtown Camden. The front trail is a little off the road so not a lot of people use it. It has a very small parking lot, but it's just a great little trail. Check my "Tracks" to see the trail route. The one shown on the map is the Park Road, which you can hike for free if you wish.

easy trail for anybody who has never hiked slight spots that are a little steep but overall rewarding with a beautiful view

Pretty views from the top. Lots of people! Easy enough for kids to have a good hike.

Great hike! Just be prepared for a lot of people at the top who drove up

Not a big challenge, but a nice afternoon hike up to a great payoff looking back at the harbor. The amount of elevation gain for the limited distance does mean a bit of exercise but nothing too strenuous. On a clear day in the spring or fall it is a great way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon.

I thought this trail is more difficult than a moderate rating. Scrambling is necessary. We came down the carriage road due to the wind and rain today; and it was very easy.

Lots of hiking possibilities through Camden Hills. This particular stretch can be tricky in places and I would not attempt it in bad weather or when it's been raining. Great views. More than a bit crowded though, especially as you get into the main part of the park and I'd hate to see it on a weekend.

Was an awesome little hike with our two small dogs. September weather was beautiful and the views of the bay and surrounding ocean was very nice!! Was great for a short hike.

The views along the way & from the top were spectacular. I am an avid hiker but my knees have gone achey recently. I found the bald rock section quite challenging. I did have to be super careful as it was also quite steep. I was determined to get to the top & was glad I made it. Views are enormous. I did ask for a ride back down as downhill is harder on knees than uphill.

The trail off Rt 52 is shorter, but gives you a great workout! Be careful of wet rocks as you'll be climbing lots of them. The trail is steep, and you'll need your hands to help climb some of the rocks. About half way up is a nice lookout, and a great place to rest or end your hike. Coming down can be trickier, especially with wet rocks, so be mindful where you step. It's worth it though!

An awesome hike! Hiked it tonight with my dog... A bit icy. Absolutely beautiful with the stars shining, as well as, The Star on the tower! What a sight! Worth a trip up there!!!!!

Beautiful views! Some steep points. Just rained last night so it was quite slippery under the fall leaves. Nice quick hike!

Love this trail, beautiful views all along the way. Good trail markings and the weather was perfect.

Few steep points, but once your make it past those it's smooth sailing.

I'd say for a person that isn't a frequent hiker the steep points of this might bring this to a little more than a moderate hike, even though it's not a very lengthy hike.

The trail is demanding and a little slick, but a great challenge with the beautiful payoff of the view!

Nice hike for the family. There is a stone tower at the top which offers even more amazing views. I made this hike in the dark so I could film a time lapse of the sunrise- It was well worth it!

Steep, short. Requires all fours in the steepest sections

Fun, interesting hike but more difficult than expected (on the way down). My 12 & 16 year old boys loved it but we ended up driving to pick up my 10 year old daughter who was afraid to hike down the rock face. The view is amazing at the top and you get rewarded with nice views in several locations on the way up.

Amazing view, great hike. However, I would not recommend for children under 8 years of age. Very steep at times, making it not only difficult on the hike up, but very difficult on the way down.

Great trail. Starts outside the park and ends at the top of the mountain, which should be noted for those who go from the park down.

This is a great vertical scramble on the southern side of Camden Hills State Park.

I would strongly discourage you from bringing dogs on this route. It's way too vertical. You are much better off going to the main entrance of the State Park and enjoying the trails that start there.
