great view of the town of Camden at the top of Battie.

Nice enough trail. We paid the $4/person and started at the state park trailhead. Parts of the trail follow the road, which crosses it at least twice. The view of Camden is worth it alone. But the top is also accessible by car, hence the road. So it was fairly busy on the late-July day we went. It is subjective, but we found the Mt Battie portion of the hike only moderate at most in terms of difficultly.

On the way back, we cut over to the the Mt Megunticook Ocean Lookout trail and looped back to the parking area. It was a little more difficult, less people and a nice view (same view at the top as Mt Battie, but higher, a little further away and no accessibility via car).

Both legs of the hike were nice and would do them again, but I definitely enjoyed the Megunticook Ocean Lookout trail best of the two.

Nice hike through oak forest, lots of leaves on the trail in November, quiet on the trek this time of year until you reach summit where an auto road brings many more people. The tower was cordoned off but it looks as if there is upgrading to the almost 100 year old structure is pending. I'll climb (or drive!) again to check it's status!
Perfect day for a hike! 2 hours up and back to lower parking lot near check in. Note: you can drive up to trail head if desired

Popular hike. Cannot beat the views of the sea and picturesque town and harbor from above. A "must do" if you are in town for a day or longer.
