This is my favorite trail because of the beautiful ocean views through the entire thing and the quick loop. There are beaches at the beginning that you can walk down to and enjoy a walk along the ocean for a few hundred feet. The island is home to the Baxter School for the Deaf so there is private property in the middle and you must stay on the marked trail. Very little elevation. Difficult to walk when it’s icy and it can get muddy because it’s minimally exposed to sun. There is a small fee during the on-season of a few dollars for parking. Oh, and you will have to keep an eye out for the famous fairy house gardens along the way!

Just heads up it is closed effective today 03.27.20 as are other state parks due to the corona virus. Just thought this might save someone a trip :)

Beautiful and easy trail to navigate. The trail wraps around an island, overlooking the ocean and surrounded by trees. Swinging benches placed along the trail, parking right out front, and a place to make “fairy houses”. Very unique. Only complaint is it can be fairly crowded.

Just finished a New Year morning walk. There was fresh new snow and the view was wonderful. Get out there and enjoy!

Fee to enter and there has to be a parking spot to be let in - makes it not very crowded at all though, and was easy to get in midweek in the summer. Can walk on rocky beach or dirt path to go around the island.

Great trail around the island. Nice for a hike or run. Walk on the beach areas. Good for dogs but would be better if they were permitted off leash. After all the man who dedicated the island to Maine has his pet cemetery there in their honour. Beautiful views.

easy and beautiful! Bikes are not allowed on trail.

Loved this. Super easy walk along a dirt path that circles around the island. No bugs or mud. Lots of cute benches / swings along the way. Don’t miss the fairy houses!

Great walk on a gorgeous day. No bugs with the wind coming off Casco Bay, Trails were well marked and mostly dry. Brung you trunks and take a swim off the jetty or at one of the beaches. Parking at the location $3 per ME adult resident.

Very scenic trail. I’ve come here a few times and love it each time. Fun little hidden pet cemetery in the woods on a side trail. Fantastic for all ages and pets! Be prepared to build a fairy house!

I love this place! Super pretty, my friend and I brought hammocks and chilled out by the beach for a few hours. Just watch out for the caterpillars, they're everywhere.

Great place to walk the dog or take the family. Views of Portland and and ocean surround the island. There are a couple of little beaches which are fun at low tide. Parking is often an issue. Get there early or risk not being able to park.

Pleasant, easy walk. Elevated all along the edge of the shoreline, but still within the woods. Very picturesque.

This is a wonderful walk around a small island. Easy footing. Swings and benches follow this trail with a tiny fairy village and beaches along the way. Will be back! :)
