Great hike. With all the rain yesterday, it is a little washed out in many areas. MUCH longer than advertised. You can add 3+ miles if you wanted.

The Machias River Heritage Trail is a very nice, easy hike that runs through the woods and mostly along the banks of the Machias River. The trail is very well maintained and marked. It is somewhat buggy but not too bad with repellent. The 1.6 mile out-and-back shown in AllTrails is actually only a portion of the trail. I hiked 3 miles out-and-back and still didn’t do the entire trail. I added a trail map in Photos.
