We did the west side carriage trail and completed the loop with the Jordan Stream Trail. Love this loop, great for dogs, mostly shaded and the dogs can jump in for a swim at the end of their hike.

dog friendly. the only official pkace you are allowed to have your dog off leash. if you follow the long pond carriage road and enter the first sign for jordan pond stream there are lots of bridges. moderate to easy. after the rain some parts were completely under water so I had to take off my hiking shoes and barefoot a few times.

We had a great little hike on this trail with our dogs. Having full access to water for them on a hot day was perfect and the mostly flat trail was great for our older dog. We did the full loop around the pond and it took about an hour and a half. This trail is part of a really neat trail system and nature preserve with many other trail options/carriage roads in the immediate surrounding area. Ended the hike with a doggie play session at the little dog swimming and play area near Route 3, and finished with a trip across the road to enjoy the ocean!

Beautiful, shaded trip through a thickly wooded area beside the pond. Lots of tree roots along the way. Recommend trekking poles.

Walking

This is a favorite walk for us and our dog. The carriage road loop has some inclines but is made easy by the road surface. This map says the loop is 2.2 miles but it is more than that. I’ve been told about 3.5. Most sections have good shade. Bring water! There are many trails that cut through the woods that will make it more like hiking due to uneven surfaces (roots, rocks, etc) and steeper climbs. Trail markers can be elusive. Dogs are free to be off leash. It’s a wonderful place. Parking at the main gate is very limited. There is a new upper lot than can be used.

A group of coworkers and myself sauntered down from the Jordan Pond Dorms to lay in the tall grass above little long pond. The short trail dumps out right next to the beach if you somehow get tired of the beautiful little pond.
