Not horrible but personally probably won't be doing this one again. You get some decent views along the way looking towards Echo Lake, but once you reach the summit you're still well below the tree line, which is a little bit lame in my opinion. If it weren't for the summit marker I wouldn't have realized I was there, but for 650' what do you expect? Good for a walk and definitely dog friendly.

If done with Acadia it is worth the hike and time but alone it would be boring

We did this trail with the Acadia MT loop trail it makes for a nice hike by combined the two. The views of Somes Sound can really take you away. I would recommend this trail for families. It is a little tough going in some parts but if you all stick together everyone will be fine. It is steep in some parts and these trails run East / West which if I am right are the only ones on the island that do this, which to me made it a must do trail.

There is actually a great view! You just need to continue on the additional .4 miles to Valley Peak which is relatively flat to downhill. Beautiful, fun hike!

The trail was much steeper than I'm used to but it was definitely worth the challenge! The only bummer about this trail was there was no scenic view at the summit.
