Getting There

Starting out from a well marked trailhead, follow a well travelled trail up Jockey Cap. Passing by boulders for exploring, you are able to see glimpses of the cliffs through the trees. The trail goes up and around to the back of the small mountain where it breaks through the forest and up onto the cliffs. From the top there are great views of the mountains of Western Maine and the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

Quinns Motel and Country Store allows parking to the right of the motel area, where the Trailhead is clearly marked.

Located just off Rt 302 in Fryeburg minutes from New Hampshire and the Fryeburg Fairgrounds - trailhead starts in the Quinns Motel and Country Store parking area.

I parked in the Dollar General parking lot and the trail begins behind the store. I learned that it doesn't matter which trail you take; they all lead to the top where there are nice views. This is an easy trail...more of a walk in the woods than a hike...although steep when you get near the top. I did it on my way home from hiking over in North Conway, just for something to kill 20 - 30 minutes.

WalkingGreat!

extremely short, I would say max 150 feet up. I would call it more of a walk or stroll than a hike. it is steep in parts. but the view is gorgeous with a 360 view of the white mountains, and a stone pillar with the mountains carved into it so you can see what you looking at.

Nice easy trail. Pretty view up top. My pup Annie enjoyed it. There’s lots of good smells on the way up and down. Haha! The panoramic diorama up top is cool showing you the landscape.

Super easy access and easy enough or as hard as you want. Pretty kick ass really. Easy enough that you can take dogs or a 5 year old, or you can tackle it and climb up the fast way and probably be to the top in 15 minutes.

The trail was a little hard to follow coming back down and we ended up a bit over from where we came in. Very easy Trail until the end which has a bit of a steep climb. Did with 2 toddlers and a grandma and everyone was able to do it without issue. Also not too busy, which was nice

We parked to the right of the the Dollar General but didn't see a trailhead anywhere. (Maybe it's located somewhere else... or maybe it's gone?) Either way, it was simple enough to follow the trails up. Really short hike, but lovely views at the top. The kids liked that it got a little bit steeper near the top.

nice view for a short walk, not well maintaines, not well marked but small enough all trails end up at the top. only 2 parking spots at jockey cap country store for the trail, would suggest to park at neighboring school.

I have done this trail twice once in the winter with snowshoes and the other in warmer weather. The trail is short a bit steep at the end but the views are gorgeous.
