Perfect day hike with plenty of views. Water is freezing, however it’s a great way to cool off. Would recommend to beginners and outdoor enthusiasts alike

Excellent waterfalls and swimming holes... water very cold! Rewarding short hike. You won’t want to miss if staying at South Branch Campsites in Baxter State Park!

second time to this beautiful mid length hike. 72* sunny, minimal bugs. a little muddy to start...loved hiking by stream most of the time...clear greenish pools. butterflies and frogs and toads. a freezing cold dip in the last pool. ahhhhh

This was a memorable hike completed in August of 2018. It was recommended by a ranger. We took a canoe through south branch pond and started the trail where the river emerges from the valley. After about a mile we decided to go for a swim in one of the natural water pools that the mountains had created. Beautiful. I will return to do this hike alone.
