Hiked this back visiting in 2017... Great easy hike to start off with, brings you right along the ocean with beautiful overlooking views... acceptable for all ages, relatively flat

Counterclockwise is best

Great moderate trails for kids who like to hike. Fantastic views and enough rocks on the trial to keep it interesting for the kids. If it helps ours were 5 and 9 and loved it. Bring a towel to wipe off because the kids will more than likely want to head to the beach and you can’t get there without a getting wet.

I would recommend this trail for anyone who is looking to advance their hiking skills from moderate to advanced. There are plenty of places close to the trail where you can safely climb on the rocks to get a better view of the ocean.

Parking at the trailhead was full so we had to park near Sand Beach and walk across the beach to reach the trail. We did the loop clockwise. The first half was pretty easy but the part near the cliffs was very rocky and required some moderate climbing skills. The second part of the trail was rather muddy, but not terrible. It was a sunny Sunday and there were lots of people on the trail.

Definitely do this trail counter-clockwise. Much easier to climb on the front-end of the hike and have a more relaxing second half. A lot of nice views and rocks to climb but not too hard. It is correctly rated as moderate and we enjoyed the hike very much.

Great trail, did not see a lot of other hikers, and you have the ability to exit the trail to get wonderful views of “where the mountains meet the sea.”

Truly a moderate trail, some steep rocky parts but mostly an easy fun hike with good ocean views. Saw quite a few families with small kids and dogs on this trail.

In the early season it’s still a bit wet and muddy in certain places, but the hike is still very doable. Great views surround most of the loop. May have seen some poison ivy along a portion of the hike that’s closest to sand beach... be careful and have fun!

The beach is beautiful! Path short and easy in my opinion. Beautiful reefs where the ocean breaks. Well worth a visit. 30 min if in a hurry. 1 hour if you take your time!

Went in winter. Didn't do the whole loop because was a little too snowy and icy for me, a clutz, to scramble over by myself. I went the long way and back tracked and added part the Satterlee(?) trail and Park Loop road in. Really lovely, beautiful views. Very Happy I found this by accident since I was just intending to walk on the beach.

One of our favorite trails in Acadia. Views, unique terrain, and solitude combine to make this a stunning and enjoyable hike. I highly recommend

Fairly quick trail that lets you see a variety of ocean, beach, rocks, forests and vistas. Nothing too difficult. We enjoyed going down to the oceans edge on the rocky side and just watching the waves crash on the shore.

Nice views of the ocean, mountains and the beach. Some rocks to climb but fairly level trail.

The views make this trail.

Great views, short, beautiful beach (crowded for sure). Much better way to get there as the car park is small and not too busy.

Beautiful views. Just the right amount of challenges for a family hike. I agree with the moderate rating. Great hike if you like to take pictures!

Love this trail! Did it both times i was in acadia. I prefer going up steep rocks so I prefer to go counter clockwise. you choose when you cross sand beach, go up steps and come to giant circle stone. Go right for counter clock trail. Also my favorite part is scrambling down to the farthest out rocks at the ocean and seeing tide pools at the point. Great views looking back at sand beach and beehive if you do scramble down and look back.

We prefer this loop counter clockwise. We do it every year at least once. It is a favorite.

Flat, easy stroll through the woods and along the rocky shores near Sand Beach.

SOme nice views and a little rock scrambling. You can access Sand Beach from this side if you don't want to brave the other parking lot. Probably not great when granite is wet..

Definitely not an easy trail. In many places the only way you know you are on the trail is a paint mark on the rocks. Also much longer then marked.

Fantastic hike with great views of the ocean and several coves. If you’re adventurous, several great areas to go off trail and take some photos on the rocks. A few steep climbs down the rocks but not real difficult. Overall, a beautiful trail!
