Beautiful hike! We did it with a two year old in our hiking backpack. The final .4 scramble was a challenge but the views were AMAZING! Make sure you have bug spray for the bottom and sun screen for the top. Minimal foot traffic so it was truly enjoyable. The views in the gorge were stunning!

Great hike! The lower part has lots of mosquitoes but it’s beautiful and quiet.

Start at the bottom of this trail. Parking is better and it’s more fun.

Beautiful in the gorge - waterfalls and all. Recommend going one way on the way down from Cadillac, the part closest to the summit is pretty intense!

Couldn't park at Cadillac North Ridge, so went down to Gorge Path and took a right close to the trailhead to meet back up at the North Ridge trail head.

Phenomenal trail. The water features are gorgeous and fun to navigate back and forth over the stream. If you are headed up or down Cadillac, be prepared for steep bouldering. We went up North Ridge and down Gorge and had to butt slide down some of the boulders being chicks with short legs. It was definitely intense and I recommend trekking poles or a staff.

this trail was the perfect challenge for my family, it had sections that were both strenuous and relaxed so we could have some time to breathe. I wouldn’t recommend taking dogs if you end up going up to the top of Cadillac Mountain given how narrow and steep the trail is. I would also be cautious about when the most recent rain has been because there were a few spots crossing the river that were underwater, but for us it was still easy for us to get a cross. the perfect level of difficulty for a family of active but not super fit people.

It was interesting trail to hike. Nice view around gorge. Perfectly marked. Not so difficult.

Enjoyable

I have always enjoyed this trail. A nice hike up along a creek between Dorr Mountain and Cadillac Mountain. You eventually come to and intersection where you can continue down the back side of the gorge Via the A Murray Young path or you can summit Door or Cadillac mountains. Nice trail to hike after there has been some rain so the creek is flowing.

My favorite route to summit Cadillac. The first .5-.8 (rough estimate) is mostly flat then escalates into more of a boulder climb through the gorge before you break through the trees and finish the hike with stellar views all around Cadillac of the islands / ocean. This hike does regular basic physical strength, but whether you power through or take breaks it is a doable hike for a variety of ages. GREAT for hot and humid summer days, where you can escape the heat by hiking through the gorge then getting a great breeze at the summit. Just hiked yesterday for the first time in the fall and was even more pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was.

Definitely recommend taking Gorge Path to descend Cadillac Mountain - a beautiful and peaceful trail that appeared much less traveled. It had poured the night before so many of the rocks that make up the trail were underwater, which required lots of crisscrossing from one side of the creek to the other and balancing on some very unstable rocks while trying to figure out a different path. Be prepared to get your feet wet and get creative in your navigation!

Exhilarating, challenging, exhausting, breathtaking

Be ready to get your feet wet! Not sure why so much of the path seemed like we were hiking IN the stream. Lots of water. Beautiful path.

A good option for descending the mountain since it provides shade. First ~0.4miles of the descend very steep (trekking poles strongly recommended). Afterwards, path descends less steeply, through the woods, and as its name suggests, follows a gorge (nice tiny waterfalls, a creek, etc).

This was my third hike, it was challenging and beautiful. I did it with my daughter and SIL. We did it as a descent from Cadillac Summit. The first .75 mi was a deep descent down boulders that required scrambling on all fours and sometimes scooting on my butt. Was happy I had a staff to aid me along the way. After we got into the “gorge” it was beautiful and well designed but don’t let your guard down. The water trickle/ stream was soothing and ran the length of the trail.

Fun and challenging trail. I did this with my seventeen year old son and his sixteen year cousin. A lot of the trail is a long scramble over rocks under which the creek between Cadillac and Dorr mountains runs. It is shaded for the most part, but the elevation change and very rocky path make it a fun challenge. The last yards turn from the creek area to scale Cadillac Mountain. Some of the trail here requires all four limbs to traverse but soon one arrives at the top of Cadillac Mountain and it's breathtaking views. This is not a kid or pet friendly trail, but a very fun one for teens and adults.

1st significant hiking trip, previous trips had been much less elevation. Nice hike.

This is a nice trail that winds up a gorge to Cadillac Mountain peak. The trail is very straight forward and easy to follow but be warned, the trail up is a long set of stairs. it's about a mile and a half of the most beautifully created steps that are easy to climb and are not to awkward to navigate. The views at the top are breathtaking. It's about a 2-3 hour hike up and down. While the app shows it from the summit down then up I would suggest starting from the bottom trail head so you climb fresh and then the trek down is not so bad when your a little tired. Your knees will thank you. Saw some deer, a snake (nothing dangerous), and a few chipmunks. It's a good climb if you're in fairly good shape but anyone can make it with a little patience. Wear trail walking shoes as apposed to hiking boots, the slight weight reduction will make for a more pleasurable hike.

Great hike through a scenic gorge alongside and across a mountain stream. The steps are so well laid it looks almost natural. The steps are also the key to this very steep trail that requires attention and fitness, but not great skills, to enjoy.

Go up to the Cadillac summit through this trail that scrambles up the gorge before emerging, quite suddenly, between Dorr and Cadillac summits. Ascend either summit (or both) once you reach upper gorge. It’s a great difficult climb up and has some fun rock scrambling to achieve the Cadillac summit. Descend the Cadillac North Ridge for spectacular views of Bar Harbor on the way down

Great moderate intensity hike. There are couple areas that can be challenging for a dog. A boost might be needed. Took about 2 hours to get up Cadillac mountain and return. Spectacular views.

Quite tricky on the way down from Cadillac Mountain. After going up on the North Trail it was quite tiring coming down this one and this one iwasn’t as picturesque

Great trail with beautiful views of the gorge and fall colors along the way. Started at the top of Cadillac Mountain (that’s where the GPS took us) and hiked down the mountain. Was tough going down and by the time we got to the bottom, we were exhausted and no way were heading back up. Found some other tourists from Alabama that drove us back to the top, thank you! My suggestion is to be prepared to either hire a shuttle service be prepared for 7.4 miles of climbing as it’s fairly steep steps and climb the whole way. Quads are still burning! Beautiful hike though!

Last hiked it on May 14, 1994. What can I say that has not already been said by many visitors about this spectacular hike?

An amazing job of trail building. The last section up out of the gorge to the summit of Cadillac Mountain is steep and has a few places where you need to use your hands to scramble up through the slabs and boulders.

This was a great trail! The difficulty level was as advertised. Some rock crawling involved, but nothing that requires real strength. Saw some cool snakes on the way up! This is my favorite way to summit Cadillac.
