We made the mistake of doing this trail in July.... It was obscenely crowded. It really took away from the nice views.

a shorter but beautiful hike! the climb wasn't bad for myself, my husband with a bad knee and ankle, and my two dogs, who absolutely loved Maine after this trip. after descending to the cove at low tide it was amazing to explore the nooks and pools that form. We went a little later in the day and so when we got to the cove is was almost dead silent and you felt a little isolated to just take in the beauty of the area. it was so interesting to see the original and old growth section on Acadia that hadn't been touched by the fire all those years ago... instead of the birch and maples that you see on the Bar Harbor side, which is beautiful in the fall... you get to see the deep evergreens and the canopy that envelopes you. this hike is a must for me when I go!

A very enjoyable walk. There is a bit of climbing, but most climbing sections have stairs, many stairs. The day we went was quite foggy and damp but the forest was dense with lots of moss and beautiful. The tide was in so there was no beach just big rocks. We did see a seal frolicking about.

Great view for a moderate and short ascent. Nice ending near the beach. Loop style. High reward to effort ratio.

Great hike! The first half (going counter-clockwise) may be challenging for a novice as it can get steep with lots of steps but the views are amazing. I do recommend starting on this side though, that way you can just relax during the last 0.5 miles after the beach - which is super flat and easy. I hiked with my 8 yr old dog who is not used to hikes and she did great. I did have to help her on some of the boulders but she loved it, especially the beach!

well maintained trail with some rock scrambling, from the parking lot fairly vertical with many steps up to the top. Beautiful views. The trail down is fairly step also. Our Labrador Retriever loved the ocean swim at the rocky beach. From the beach it is a .5 mile flat logging type road back to the parking lot.

Several options for the loop - trailhead to right goes up a steep trail with great views of Somes Sound from several points at top, then down to a stunning rocky beach. Trailhead to left goes to the rocky beach via a flat fire road.

Very nice little hike. A bit crowded but worth it, especially with the pebble beach and lovely bay at the end.

Excellent trail, especially good for kiddos. 5 year old had no problem for entire hike, and terrain was never too aggressive for him. 10 year old loved it, especially eh beach towards the end. Previous reviewers are absolutely correct: arrive early in the morning and the beach will be just yours when you arrive there. You'll arrive feeling as though it's your own private getaway. May be somewhat aggressive for dogs, but your average medium sized k9 wont have a challenge.

really beautiful, short, with a view and a beach!

Very nice trail. Recommend doing later in the day so that the sun is shining across the water from behind you. Nice beach access ~halfway through the hike as well.

Pretty! You can go in the water too. Watch out for jellyfish!

Great little hike! My husband and I brought our dogs and it was easy for them! Had beautiful views of the ocean at the top! Had no idea on the way down there would be access to a beach area! It was nice to just sit and take in all the views before heading back on the trail! Dogs do go swimming in the beach there so be careful of off leash pets.

Easy trail that is a little steep at the very beginning. The rest of the loop is downhill. The views are amazing!

Short and sweet. Nice views. Well-maintained. Need to tap dance over rocks and roots. Easy access, so, it will draw crowds at times. Did this twice--first time with family mid day (lots of people, but still doable) ; 2nd time as a trail run in the morning, which was very nice and peaceful.

Fun and relatively quick hike. Has a nice steep start on rocks and some dirt trail then you're at the top, the rest is a nice slow decent down and around the back of the mountain with nice views of the Sound and opportunity to get down to the shore.

Steep but relatively short trail to the summit. It offers superb views, and seems to be very popular with families with children.

Very nice and not challenging trail. Superior views of Somes Sound and Norumbega mountain. Surprisingly rewarding views for such a low elevation. You need to be careful on this very short trail - a lot of roots there. Just a lovely trail for a short afternoon hike.
