Mountain bikingGreat!

We bikes counter clockwise with kids ages 7 and 10. We ended up walking our bikes up part of the hill, but that was fine. It’s true that the whole trail is not right by the lake, but there are enough parts by the lake that we got some good views. We even saw a bald eagle! Also, the woods are pretty nice by themselves. In peak season, I’d recommend going early. Parking is a bit hard, and the trail was looking pretty packed by the time we were leaving around 11am.

Walking

It was a nice trail. Not much scenery around just walking with nice pine trees, cannot see much of the actual lake while walking the loop. Most people opted to bike, but we walked the whole loop. Much longer than expected. Was able to climb up to Connors nubble on the way though which was a positive. If walking we prepared for it to be a long one! There are also many trails you can connect to this one on the loop if desired.

Running

Even on a busy, beautiful August morning, plenty of space for bikers, runners, walkers. Did get hit in the eye by a grasshopper, but won’t hold that against the trail.

Don’t forget those bikes if you’re going to Bar Harbor! Biking those carriage trails was so much fun! Climbs in some areas, but worth it! We did the entire loop from the north to the south end and just made a day of it and took our time stopping for popovers at Jordan pond house. (Over 18 miles)

Lovely lovely! Road, lots of bikers- wish I brought a bike... but lots of marvelous lookouts over water to mountains! This was our rest day between bigger hikes... relaxing stroll.

Great for running but not to many views. Was hoping for a bit more lake front. If you want to get away from the crowds it’s a great choice after catching a sunrise on Cadillac Mountain.

4 stars from a walking/hiking perspective. it was mostly flat and partially shaded which was nice, but very few views. I ultimately felt a little cheated since we were in acadia and didn't get to see much except other bikers and a couple small snipets of the lake. there's better walks out there!

Good trail for biking! Very wide trail, pretty hilly. Had to walk our bike up a hill or two at the end. Overall very well made.

Starting in the Eagle Lake Carriage Road parking lot, we headed counterclockwise around the lake. Finished in under an hour with a family with adventure seeking boys ages 9-11. Good workout!
