This was a nice, easy hike through the woods with views of Eagle Lake for half the loop. There were lots of cyclists on the carriage road.

If you want to take a nice long walk, this is the place to visit, even during winter months. There are plenty of viewing areas along the way, especially during the fall months.

Took this trail from Jordan's Pond trail as a little extra mileage. It was buggy, but the lake was gorgeous.

Coming from Southern California to snowshoe in Bar Harbor, ME was well worth the expense and effort. We decided to take this trail because it was conveniently located near where we were staying on the island. We left the snowshoes and wore the micro-spikes because of the snow packed condition of the trail, and there was lots of ice. I was energized by all that I viewed. The sunlight on the snow covered trail set the mood for this hike. The lake was covered in ice and it was gorgeous!. Not to mention the photo ops!

the vast majority of this Trail is a flat gravel Carriage Road. We broke off the trail to the right toward the lake around 2/3 of the way through the loop. The shorts spur took us across a few boardwalks and down to a rock scramble next to the lake. We traveled approximately one mile over numerous large boulders. This added a bit of strenuous hiking to the loop. Overall, a gorgeous walk during Peak fall color.

Easy walking trail with a slight inclines in a few areas. We walked the 6 miles around the lake. Not to crowded saw bikers, runners and walkers. Nice shade cover. Please take the time to sit on a rock and enjoy the lake. There are some very nice spots on the one side of the lake. (left side)

Blue trail along the lake required some rock climbing.

These carriage road trails around Eagle Lake offer spectacular views every season. Most of this 6+ mile loop is a flat wide gravel path with a short steep windy section. So far I've hiked, snowshoed, and mountain biked this loop. During winter there're established cross country skiing tracks. Excellent fishing opportunities; I've uploaded photos from winter 2018 ice fishing trip. This loop trail offers numerous junctions where the carriage road continues in many directions throughout the park.

Easy walking trail around eagle lake

For cycling, Eagle Lake is an excellent choice for either a loop around the lake (East side is flatter; West side has 2 mile gradual ascent to the crossroads), just riding out/back on East side, or using Eagle to connect with other great trails to the North (Witch Hole), to the South (Bubble and Triad roads to Jordan Pond), or doing the famous over-the-mountain trail. If trying to coordinate some great carriage road cycling days - Eagle is a great place to start and end your hikes.

We hiked part of Eagle Lake in order to get to the Seven Bridges (towards Aunt Betty's Pond). The first thing we saw on the trail as we left the parking lot was a stone bridge. Wide gravel path. Most is easy walking except one good incline up. The fall afternoon (3pm) we walked it, it was almost deserted, a lovely peaceful walk through pines and trees dressed in colorful fall foliage. At one point we walked 45 mins to 1 hour before seeing another person. Followed signs at carriage road junction to bridges (bridges were small plain wood structures, not the cobblestone or granite stone ones people think of). On return, we did encounter more people, some walking and some cyclists who sped and were discourteous to those on foot. No excuse as the path/road is very wide. Gorgeous views of the lake with fall foliage as the sun was setting. Good walk with leashed dogs and easy for kids, but they may be bored.

Easy and peaceful hike. I particularly enjoyed the forest section. At the end of the hike there were some amazing photo opportunities. Everything is beautiful here in Maine and this hike is no exception

Fairly flat. Probably half of the trail is wooded, but some nice lake views are here too. Pretty busy carriage road!

Terrific trail with predominantly flat terrain with a spike halfway through that will have you sweating as you move up the mountain. Know, the reward is soon to come as you enjoy the long downhill run which is particularly lovely as if you take the trail counterclockwise as suggested in All Trails.

This is a review of the carriage trail (which is the tail shown here), not to be confused with the hiking-only trail (also goes around the lake, but it's very different). This is a great biking trail for beginner mountain bikers. Around 6 miles total and the trail is very (very) wide and well-graded the entire way. There is one big, long hill but otherwise it's mostly pretty flat. Recommend doing the trail counterclockwise as the uphill is a much easier grade in that direction. Mostly heavily forested with short glimpses of views over the lake. Trail can also be hiked, and is dog friendly.

Please note that this entry refers to the carriage roads around Eagle Lake and not the Eagle Lake Trail which is on the south side of the lake off the carriage roads and marked on Acadia hiking maps. That trail connects with the Jordan Carry trail and on the west side of the lake running along Connors Nubble is a very difficult boulder scramble if you were expecting a groomed carriage road. They are also currently working to replace the raised walkways on the southern tip and the trail is a bit of a mess at the moment. If you get on this trail as opposed to the carriage road, do not expect an easy hike; on the west side is it definitely a more challenging 1.2 miles and will take inexperienced hikers 1-2 hours to get through.

Beautiful views, Well groomed mostly level walking and biking trail EXCEPT about 2.5 miles on from the parking area is a lakeside cutoff. I forget the name but it is about 1.5 miles long and BOULDER FILLED! wish I knew that before taking our one and a half year old granddaughter with us along with her stroller. Once we got halfway through the trail you couldn't turn back at that point and continued until we came back to the gravel trail on the other side of the lake. Be warned.

A nice path around the lake. The initial uphill was a bit of a challenge but overall it was an easy to moderate ride. Completed in late afternoon when traffic on the trail was light. Last Thursday
