Be careful because the trail does not open for foot traffic until July 15. We kayaked out here, which was lovely, and the tour of the museum is also very enlightening. But there was no hike to be had. The birds are nesting until July 15, so if you want to get a little walk in, this is not the place.

First visiting here in 1984 as kids, we went to the end of Harpswell Island. On the way is the world's only cribstone granite bridge, and the place where my Uncle David bought his lobster trap in 1984. From Harpswell, we could see Eagle Island where we took a boat back in 1984 and went across - Admiral Peary used to live here. The house is awesome, full of historic pieces and wide open and airy. We hiked around the island through some really beautiful fern covered thickets and the beach was nice too. Not sure how to get there now unless you have a boat, you can find out by maybe talking to folks at Estes Lobster House restaurant - nice outside fireside lobster dinners.

A wonderful wander through nature with stunning views and wildlife. This is an easy walk on a week marked short trail. The trails are closed during the bird nesting season.
