First visiting here in 1984 as kids, we went to the end of Harpswell Island. On the way is the world's only cribstone granite bridge, and the place where my Uncle David bought his lobster trap in 1984. From Harpswell, we could see Eagle Island where we took a boat back in 1984 and went across - Admiral Peary used to live here. The house is awesome, full of historic pieces and wide open and airy. We hiked around the island through some really beautiful fern covered thickets and the beach was nice too. Not sure how to get there now unless you have a boat, you can find out by maybe talking to folks at Estes Lobster House restaurant - nice outside fireside lobster dinners.
